Ive got to say I just feel emotionally drained now. They did wake my dad after all after telling us they wasnt going to now. He was apparently in a bit of a vegetive state and responded to some things but not others. He kept trying to rip his breathing tubes out so they decided to see if he was breathing well on his own by taking it out and apparently he couldnt breathe on his own so hes now sedated again with breathing tube back in and I didnt get to see him awake :( I have my scan tomorrow and I cant even get excited because im so worried and sad :( x

Oh WMG what a stressful and sad time, I'm so sorry you're going through this. Your poor Dad. Lots of prayers for him and all the family. What a terrible shock for you all.

I know it will sound ridiculous but do please look after yourself. Get some early nights if you possibly can, to be gentle on you and baby.

Good luck for your scan.

Hugest hugs xxxx

Hi ladies thanks for the kind messages. Well they woke him up on wednesday and hes still a bit confused and not quite himself most of all very very emotional (so not like him) but suppose after going through that u would be? We cant quite tell if how hes being is going to wear off or if it will stay and this is the "brain damage" they warned us about but hes so scared to go to sleep he thinks hes going to die so he is sleep deprived aswell so that cant help much. Going to see him tonight so hopefully he will have improved a bit by then but physically hes breathing by himself now and has been moved out of critical care on to a heart ward so thats good x

Ah WMG that's great news! Hope he continues to improve. And good luck for the stitch.

Sorry not many personals I have been away for a week and too far to look back! Just wanted to say though, Bee hope that everything is going ok with DS2. Thinking of you. X

Well, tomorrow is DD's first birthday! I cannot believe it. She also took her first steps last Monday and this mornings manged 6 steps in a row! Having family over for a birthday tea tomorrow. I am attempting a ladybird birthday cake but have failed miserably to colour the icing properly so need to get to tesco first thingtomorrow for supplies! It looked like someone had been murdered after I had finished with the red food colouring! Cannot believe she is one already.

WMG so glad to hear things picking up a little for your dad. Hope he gets all the care and support he needs for recovery.
Good luck for your stitch!

Great cake net! Happy birthday to you too :)

We're doing ok. Just been told we have to wait another two months before we can see the neurosurgeon for ds2. So frustrating, just as the clinic date was getting close. It shouldn't affect the schedule for his care, but v frustrating to have longer to wait for questions.

I feel like I'm really getting into the swing of things with two now - we've had a big trip to visit friends for a couple of days and don't mind more ambitious day trips now- crikey, that's taken not just weeks but months! Don't want materntiy leave to end, it's such fun planning activities for ds1 I want to be able to enjoy very day with him! Can't believe I've had 6 months already...

Hope everyone is keeping well.

:hi: all...

WMG - glad your dad is getting better and better - big relief I bet!
Good luck for the stitch today! Does that also provide you with relief once its in so you can relax a bit more about the pregnancy? (I would imagine so if it was me?)

BeeS ... the wait to see specialists is sooooo frustrating! We're still waiting on a followup for S's hearing (we think she is partially deaf) ... But still no followup - think it's time to ring them! Must be even more frustrating for you though being his skull!
I can't wait for S to be like your DS1's age! Doing activities etc and she will understand! I imagine my days with her will be so much more rewarding if that makes sense? And FUN ;) : D So I can understand now why you don't want maternity to end

Hi everyone else, hope you are all well!
And happy birthday to Net's LO, and Net of course : D  :birthdaycake:

Cheens, Moogle, Sasha, Dusky - you & your babies all okay? ^^

As for us... I'm just mega stressed at work this week - its busy time (middle of every month)
And I only work 2.5 days! So squeezing it all in is a nightmare ... meeting after meeting, work after work blah blah
And then rush home quickly to pick S up and then sort her out for the evening before I can do anything for myself like bathe or eat! :pinch:  ... this is where being like a single mummy really takes its strain - but when he comes home from work (friday eve) ... he moans he has to work and then come home and bath her 8| ?o( 8| ?o( 8| ?o( ... I do it every friggin night and I'm not even a stay at home mum - does he think she sorts herself out mon-weds evenings or something?

Anyway... we are concerned for S's hearing... Both me and OH has problems as children... Last time she was at the audiology appt they found her hearing was slightly lower than normal and fluid behind 1 ear drum which in the follow up she was going to check if it has dispersed itself!
No follow-up still ... And now I'm concerned it's affecting her speech?

Can you ladies tell me (with older babies obviously) ... by 13 months, what were they saying?
Everyone I know personally - their babies can at least say clear words by now... She can't!
Although she is very advanced in the walking department and she is clever (not just my biased view haha)
But she lacks speech ... And the only word we can really make out has been DAD .. and even thats not clear really!?
Am I worrying unnecessarily :whistling: ?o( :S
Lots of heartbreaking history incl 2 losses :-(

April 12 - IVF - :BFP:

Sept/Oct 18 - ICSI

Hey Amy, sounds like things are mega-hectic with you :) Just a wee bit reassurance, F barely spoke at 13 months either - a bit of babble, and we could sometimes pick out things that sounded like mama, dada and milk... but he didn't really speak until after his second birthday. He turned 4 in January this year and has an incredible vocabulary now - a couple of little speech issues i.e. not pronouncing his "s" and "f" sounds correctly, but we're working on that. So try not to worry and please try not compare to others, she's doing fine. All babies are different and getting on the move has obviously been higher on your little lady's priorities! (F was the same) If she does have some hearing loss though, it may well affect her speech development to some degree so I would chase that follow-up appointment and find out where she's at now xx

Happy birthday Net and hope L had a brilliant first birthday - she's such a gorgeous smiley wee thing! xx

Bee, good to hear you're getting into the hang of the juggling act... I'm still not really if I'm honest ;) It must be frustrating waiting for DS2's appt, did they tell you why they postponed it? xx

Hope stitch has gone ok today WMG, and that your dad continues to improve xx

Sasha, how's your hubby doing? Hope DS let you sleep a bit longer today :) xx

It's madness as ever here in Mooglesville, K mastered crawling properly a couple of weeks ago and is now trying to walk! 8| No stopping the wee monkey... her favourite thing in the whole world is a tatty corner of skirting board in the living room, which she makes a beeline for constantly so she can pull at it. And try to eat it. Babies are weird, yes? But brilliant weird :D She loves her grub too, haven't found anything she won't eat yet. But she's still a tiny toot, 3-6 month clothes fit her just about perfect now at 8 months. Sitting here feeding her just now (still BFing 3-4 times a day, never thought I'd carry on this long), looking at the snow and hoping it goes off as I need to run tonight! [zx060]

Lots of love to everyone else and catch up soon xxx

Where is the time going?! Seems ages since my last post - and it was LOL!

WMG - hope your dad is OK and improving. Sorry to hear what happened. Hugs x

Amy - don't worry. My DS's speech has only come on loads the past 6 months or so, since he turned 2. Now he never shuts up LOL and there are still lots of words that aren't clear or only me and DH can understand. The grandparents still look at us confused wondering what he is saying but we know what he means because we are with him 24/7. I don't think he was saying much at 13 months. It is such a long time ago now. I bet by the end of the year her speech will have come on loads so try not to worry. I know it's hard trying not to compare. I use to stress about DS's milestones but am so much more relaxed with DD. My DS didn't walk until 15 months old. x

Moogle - wow crawling already? My DD can move forward on her belly and roll over but not very far. Good luck with the half marathon. I have yet to start my exercise regime! So fat and untoned now :(

Happy birthday Net x

Bee - when do you go back to work? I have just emailed my HR department to sort mine as I've decided to go back a couple of months earlier, mainly financial reasons as will be tight over summer otherwise as I don't get paid maternity leave from May so now going back at the end of July instead of September. Still a way off. Glad to hear you're enjoying it at home with two. I have DS home on a Tuesday with me and DD and I must admit I do enjoy it even though it is hard having them both on my own while DH is at work. We go to a playgroup in the morning and this afternoon we made Toy Story cupcakes (just the box stuff, not from scratch LOL!).

Hi to everyone else and I hope you're well.

All good here. I have now stopped breastfeeding (since DD turned 5 months) and for the past week or so DD has had a set bedtime routine of bottle in her room with dim lights and she has gone to bed without fuss - yay! I have also started putting her in her cot awake (started last week) and it has made a huge improvement to her night time sleep in that she can self soothe much better and we had 3 consecutive nights of sleeping through. The last 2 she hasn't though but has only woke the once. I think she is teething as she is biting anything and everything and tried to eat my shoulder today when I was carrying her LOL! Can't see any teeth though.

I have tried weaning but as of yet she hasn't shown great interest in food. We've tried carrot, sweet potato, swede, apple and pear. When she had apple and pear today she pulled the funniest of faces, must've been the tang of it. When I weaned DS he had his mouth open ready for the next mouthful. DD doesn't, she just tries to grab the spoon and what she does take she just holds in her mouth and spits most of it out. Would you assume she isn't quite ready yet? May try banana tomorrow and let her hold it to see if she prefers feeding herself.

I'm really enjoying maternity leave now DD is older. We go to a baby class on a Monday where we chat about anything baby related - weaning, crying, sleep etc and share tips and offer advice, and on Friday's we did baby massage but that course has now finished. There is another course I've registered on which starts in March I thnk, which is about play and talking. It's great chatting to other mums. I really want to take DD swimming soon as we haven't been yet. I think she'd like it as she loves bath time. She has never cried when I have bathed her, unlike her brother who would scream the house down when we bathed him as a baby.

Anyway, off to bed as addicted to my latest book - Simon Kernick's latest one. It's so good, I'm hooked! I love my early nights with my Kindle LOL!

Bye for now xxx

just popping in on my phone so quick simple post ...

thanks for the reassurances ladies! I did ring audiology yesterday and they have an appt for her on 27th March now so at least that's something to aim for!! ... and weirdly after nursery today I was getting her out of the car to go in the house and it was pouring down so I'm saying "quick" "quick" and she repeated after me plenty of times - then I said oh look it's our "cat" and I'm sure she repeated again ...

she was in my arms tho near my mouth so ... it could be she isn't hearing me unless right next to me :/
we'll see haha but thanks again for reassurances xxx

Hello all

Bee - I'm sorry you are having to wait even longer for the appointment. Glad you are into the swing of things with two though. When does your maternity leave end?

Amyeliz, my DD says 'Mama', 'Bye Bye' and 'Dada' and that's it, and I wouldn't say she says them clearly, other than 'Mama'. Mind you, everything and everyone is Mama, not just me! She's only just taken a few steps though, so I think it just shows that each child develops differently. Hopefully the tests will give you some answers about her hearing and you can feel happier about it all.

Moogle - bless K and the skirting board, that's so funny. My DD is obsessed with the CD rack in our house. My 1990s collection of Britpop CDs are slowly getting destroyed! My DD is still in 6-9 month clothes mainly, some 9-12 month but not many and she just turned 1. Some babies are just meant to be wee. She is an absolute cutey I must say. I thought i'd last breastfeeding until 2 months and I'm still going too...no signs here of DD wanting to stop, and I'm not bothered either so we'll keep going for the time being.

Buzzbee - good to hear from you. I love all the mum and baby classes I go to as well, and have had great support from my NCT class. I'm glad you are enjoying things more now and that DD is going down to bed so well. Long may it last for you! Any sign of teeth yet?

Hi everyone else.

AFM, thanks everyone for the birthday wishes. Despite the awful weather I had a great day. DD is doing well, she had a settling in session at nursery on Thursday as I go back to work next Thursday (boo!). Cannot believe my maternity leave is over already, very sad about it but desperate for cash so needs must and all that! She didn't cry at nursery thank goodness, hope she is ok at the next few settling in sessions.

Supposed to have friends over for dinner tonight but due to the bad weather their babysitter (MIL who lives on Isle of Wight) couldn't get over the Solent so I have a family sized cheesecake that I made yesterday to get through....not good for the diet!!

Hi ladies, WMG, so pleased to hear your Dad is doing well and that stitch went ok x

Amy, DD2 is 16 months and only saying a few words, mama, dada, babba, she is just now starting to make the right sounds for beginnings of words, b for ball etc. Dd1 was a bit earlier than she is, though has always had ear problems... I personally really wouldn't worry.

Net, glad you had a nice birthday. How's the cheesecake going? :)

Hi everyone else x

Took dd1 to the Lion King this avo, it was amazing! She loved it! It was the first time I have left DD2, that's she's been aware of, ie not popping to the shops when she's napping (and DH is home of course :) ). She's teething atm and had a horrid temp yesterday so it was hard but her godparents said she only cried a little and was just fine :)

She is finally drinking a bit of milk from a beaker, have tried her on and off for the past few months but she's never been fussed. She's still not overly keen and am still bf her morning and night.

She won't settle tonight again :( xxxx

I am no longer worrying about her speech development thanks ladies!
And she has thrived this last week especially! : D

She is booked in March to see Audiology about her hearing again though so we'll see what happens then.
But this past week, we now have these words in her vocab...

Sock (ock) ,,, Dog, Cat (cag), Mummy, Dad (she doesn't say daddy), and Quick cos I always say it getting her out of the car in the rain hahaha, so she says kick it sounds like.

She understands things as well this past week, she's become a right little toddler!
Fetches me things I ask for now

Hope you are all well?

Hi all

Just a quick one as I am at work...... Booooooooo! First day back today, waiting for laptop to process 14 months' worth of IT updates! So so sad to leave DD. She is with DH today but starts nursery proper next week. Settling in not going too well. She cried for two hours on and off yesterday . Please, those of you with older ones at nursery, did it take yours a while to settle? Dreading leaving her next week. Hardly anyone has said hi to me as I work in such a big impersonal office I am having a bit of a sad morning :(

WMG glad your dad is on mend and stitch went well.

Net, how did DD get on? I put DD1 in for a few months when she was just 1, she cried a lot when I first dropped her off for about a month, when I used to phone to check she was always fine though. It does take a while but she will soon get used to it, is hard though isn't it.

How is your Dad WMG?

Hi girls,

It's been too long since I last posted, I just wanted to drop by and say hello and that I do think of you all even though I don't get a minute to read and post.

Lynsey, welcome and congratulations of becoming a mummy blowkiss I bet your little boy is getting lavished in mummy cuddles and kisses x

Net, I feel of you. I'm sure your LO will be refusing to come home before long with all the fun that'll be happening at nursery. It'll be harder on you I'm sure, stay strong x

All this baby babble and chatter is so exciting. DS is only 6.5 months so mostly just blowing bubbles, whooping and hollering! He does kind of moan "maaahm" but I think it's him complaining about teething :winking:

Dusky I can't believe DD2 is 16 months already! Good to hear you are still BF, I think I'd like to do that too even in the evening...it depends on whether he bites me or not!

WMG, tell us all your updates here lovely girl...or is that against the 'rules'?! x

AFM, Rubin is doing great quite a big boy in weight and length although I can't remember when I last saw the HV to know where he sits on his charts. We are meeting Rally and lovely Isla every week which has been lovely, lots of swimming and walks but mostly coffee cake and good catch ups.

I've just caught up on 4 episodes of Grey's Anatomy not sure how I missed it starting, probably something to do with being zonked every night after LO goes to bed which is where I'm heading now.

Love to everyone xxx

Lynsey - how amazing you got to adopt!! I still keep considering this... I am extremely lucky after everything to finally have my little miracle, but I hate the thought of her being an only child (DP has other ideas though) ... But I would love to adopt (although not sure his past would allow?)
Do they allow certain people that wouldn't "fit the ideal criteria" to be considered at panel do you know? (for like mitigating circumstances)
I know that all sounds like a riddle! Sorry!

Cheens - think we can deffo say we're coming down for Z's birthday! Are you having his little party on the Sunday?
If so was thinking we could come down Sat morning, spend some time with you's Saturday, come the party sunday for a bit and set off back up north?
Hope Scarlett behaves herself, she is a right terror at the moment! Tantrums from hell already 8| :S

As for her and us... not sleeping  HELP MEEEEEEE
Have no idea what's wrong - it's not her teeth (for a change) ... She is happy all day in herself!
She has had loose nappies since last Tuesday, but this is hopefully clearing up now, but every night she is waking up crying!!

How old were your kiddies when you put them in beds?
We did this last night in the hope it's her feeling trapped in a cot ... It didn't work, she still woke up crying 4 times last night :pinch:
BUT... gonna see if we can keep her in a bed now and progress forward in that respect!
She's done transitions really well previously and adapted quickly so hopefully she will with this too....
Have to keep remembering to shut the stairgate now though when she is in bed (8 o)

So... any suggestions for her waking countless times a night would help me I'm sure :pinch:
Sometimes it's a whinge and I leave her, sometimes its a cry for dummy, and sometimes she is inconsolable and seems scared (I was thinking night terrors???) ... But how can I help her combat these and get more sleep?? ?o( ?o( ?o(
It's not a certain time in the night either, as I do now think she is in the routine of keep waking and crying... But if it was the same times, I'd wake her to disturb the "routine" but its not :-(
Lots of heartbreaking history incl 2 losses :-(

April 12 - IVF - :BFP:

Sept/Oct 18 - ICSI

OHSS ;(

Hi

Amyeliz ~ with adopting all agencies seem to have their own criteria, so some may turn people away because of certain issues where as another agency may snap them up. Sorry I can't be more help.

Anyways. ......bit random but has anyone used Asda wipes on their LO and had an issue with them??? We have some that were in gift hampers made for us when I went on adoption leave and used them a fair bit yesterday then this morning opened DS nappy and OUCH looks so sore on his 'bits' to the point I may have to take to docs tomorrow if no improvement. .....I know a lot of people would say use metainium.....I use that anyway and dry him but looks awful poor little mite......2weeks in with himand feel such a bad mummy x
