I haven't had this but didn't want to read and run. As long as you have been given treatment to clear it up it should be fine. What advice did you clinic offer you? I hope you are resting and fingers crossed for the outcome to your cycle xx

They are culturing my urine sample for two days then may or may not prescribe a safe antibiotic. Was just a bit worried earlier ... probably still being a bit groggy from the GA.. ill update when i know what the clinic decide ... thanks for stopping by xx

They can give you antibiotics that are safe to take during pregnancy. They are culturing your urine to see which one to give your or if to give you any. Try not to worry.

Can you get your hands on some pure cranberry juice while waiting for those results? You can dilute it with water and add some grape juice otherwise its really sour but it helps. Fingers crossed.

Hi Birdii

I've had a rather persistent chronic urine infection for 2 years (!) & been on antibiotics that are safe during pregnancy (just in case miracle happens) for all that time.

IVF & urology specialists both assure me it's fine to take certain antibiotics for urine infections during IVF and pregnancy.

Hope you get yours cleared up soon though & best of luck with it all.

I'm finishing DR phase today.

Yes, there are good number of antibiotics those are safe in pregnancy, in fact the most common medical treatment for a urinary tract infection is antibiotics. But are you aware of the facts that these antibiotics wreak havoc on the body, kill good bacteria (that keep bad bacteria in check), allow yeast to grow, and can even cause a UTI (and are the #1 cause of recurrent UTIs).
Then why not treat it naturally and help resolve the root cause of the infection. I personally believe on natural remedies which can be helpful in preventing &/or managing UTIs.
Lemon juice mixed with water consumed several times a day is a simple home remedy that's effective for many people. Buttermilk mixed with 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and water consumed several times a day creates an unfriendly environment for the infection-causing bacteria.
I hope it makes a sense. Get well soon honey!!!

Regards,
Edward :)

Hi Birdii I would try the home remedies regardless as even if they won't help they can't do any harm either. I personally beleive in the cranberry juice (it really is just a normal juice you can buy the sugar added version in most supermarkets) but Edward's suggestions sounds nice too. And drinking loads is good anyway just to dilute things.

Sorry doesn't want to be patronising or anything I was just unlucky enough to have several UTI-s in my life and really know how awful they are. However I now know the signs better and if I feel it coming I drink plenty of cranberry juice and other drinks and so far I managed to keep them away for the last 4 years.

HI Birdii,
please don't take anything without telling your clinic first. See what they suggest then ask before you take anything, natural or not, except cranberry juice..

Thanks ladies for all of your advice, I waited and didn't take anything.. and today was told that I actually don't have an infection afterall!!! nightmare!!
£61 that cost haha. Turns out my pee was just too concentrated due to lack of fluids because id fasted for GA!!
At least I know in future of these amazing home remedies.. which of course I will seek advice on before using if needed.
Thanks again guys xx
