Not sure if this is normal or not..

Hi

Had EC yesterday and I am in alot of pain.. I have to walk bent over and if i st down with a thud there would be trouble!
I thought i was bloated from the stimms & didn't ever think this would get worse.. if I try and breath in it'simpossible..
I had 17 eggs collected.. I had 9 for myself & 8 went to my recipient.

Overnight 3 were sucessfully fertilised.. the others included 1 which was immature, 2 that the embrioligist said were 'too developed' (he thinks that maybe the sperm was too good & 2 sperm entered one egg) and 3 fetilised but abnormally.

Now i have to wait for a call tomorrow to see how the 3 little embies are doing.. I'm praying i have 2 left to transfer on Thursday :S

Anyway back to original question - is this normal? I've heard some women have no pain at all.. how long wil this last?

xx

I had a lot of pain after my last egg collection. The first two were painful but I was much better after 24 hours.
If you don't feel any better tomorrow I would definitely give your clinic a call.
17 eggs is a lot so may explain it being particularly painful.
Good luck for ET! X

Honey if you are in that much pain and having trouble taking a deep breath (with bloating too) you might have OHSS and need to get some help immediately! If it is not then at least they may be able to help you manage the pain that you are experiencing which is definitely not normal. Pain is expected but it should not incapacitate you like this...

I'd agree, does your clinic have an emergency number you can ring? If not why not give the NHS direct number a call?

Hope all goes well with your embies

Thanks ladies, i have been reading up on signs of OHsS but im not having any trouble breathing or I dont feel sick.
I spoke to clinic today and they said its ok to feel like this.. Maybe i didnt explain it correctly.. I really dont want to go to the hospital... I really dont have any faith in anyone there, they have messed up so many things for me and people around me.. This sounds awfilul but i dont trust thier judgement on anything.. I will wait till the clinic call tomorrow i think and see what they say...

Pray for my embies pls ladies x

Hi, Hun
Not everyone experiences the nausea and vomitting. Not everyone experiences all the symptoms. When I worked in the Middle East I nursed a few patients with OHSS before I moved over to a specialized neurosurgical unit and not one of them had nausea and vomitting. All, however, had a lot of bloating and severe pain. Two of them had decreased urine output and one of those had trouble taking a deep breath.

I am concerned that you are not able to walk upright, that you said that taking a breath is impossible (and I am assuming it is because of the sensation of pain or pressure rather than rapid shallow breathing). Yes pain is expected but you should still be able to walk, talk and breathe normally.

If you are not willing to go to the hospital, at least keep an eye on your wee, drink lots of fluids and make sure to keep your protein intake on the higher side. If your symptoms get any worse or your wee starts to get more concentrated (darker) or less in volume in relation to what you are drinking then, want to or not, trust or not, you HAVE to make a plan to get some help!

I am not saying this to force you into hospital but out of genuine concern for your health...

In the interim - hoping that your embies stay strong and healthy for you...

I had OHSS and wasn't sick and didn't have pain breathing, my stomach just got bigger and bigger to the point it was growing about a cm per day. I ended up being operated on and almost lost an ovary.

Any sort of pain and bloating really needs to be checked out properly. Even if it isn't OHSS you should get it checked out properly.

Something has just dawned on me. This pain & bloating is very simular to endo pain which I have been free of for some time now - I canot believe I didn't link it before.
Iam getting severe cramps just before a bowel movement, I have alot of trapped wind & am very bloated & tender. Now I can get these symptoms just through intercourse so I'm thinking that as they have been prodding around down there it may have set this off. I also had very bad adhesions which were fusing my uterous & my bowel together, these were divided in 2011. The trouble is I had to go to a specialist in oxford to get this diagnosed.. and although no endo was found, she said from my symptoms it is highly likely I have it.

My local hospital have fobbed me off for years & years with this pain.. They do not have a clue about endo or gynae pain...I simply do not trust their judgement on anything!

I am going to mention this to the clinic when they call this morning... my stomach is less bloated today but still very tender.. but as I say I can get this tender just from simple intercourse & maybe the EC has just set this off in a big way.

Did anyone else find endo symptoms brought on by EC? The most confusing thing is I havent officially been diagnosed with endo.. so the clinic are going to think its a bit strange all of a sudden!

Just to let you ladies know the clinic have asked me to keep measurig my belly. its 41" at the mo..& normally 31". but it really swelled with the stimms anyway. I spoe to nurse & she spoke to Dr who agreed that it doesnt sound like OHSS & to just monitor it & have advised me to go straight to a&e for bloods if it gets worse.
She said that sometimes endo sufferers are affected worse by EC.

On a good note my 3 little embies are doing great - I have 2 at grade 1 and 1 at grade 2 :) if they are still thriving tomorrow they will push to 5 day blast & ET will be sat.

thanks all for your help x

Glad that you discussed it with them. As long as you keep monitoring yourself and know when to get help it's all good.

Fingers crossed for those embies, Hun - they sound really good!

Hi, Dangermouse
How are your embies doing and how are you? I'm worrying a bit as I have not seen any further updates
