Pelvic pain - is it normal???

My pelvis hasn't been right since giving birth and I assumed it would get better with time, but 6 months on it's still no better. I just wondered if it was normal???!! When I lie on my side I can not put my knees together as it causes pain in the area of my pubic bone, the same things happen when I turn over fron one side to another in bed. If I walk for a length of time this also causes aches and pains. I don't want to bother my doctor if it is normal!!!

I'd go and see your doctor!

It's relatively normal for the pelvis to be a bit out of kilter for a short while but this amount of discomfort six months on probably needs to be looked at and it would be better to get into the system now that to wait until things became unbearable.

There are certain movements that I can't do to this day without feeling it in my pubic bone but they only cause problems if, for example, I move a box out of the way with my foot. Not being able to put your knees together in bed is more of a day to day issue that sounds like it needs looking at.

I'm with Bells on this one.
I had pain probably up until about 6 months and then it tailed off. I still get the odd twinge but it's not relaly that noticable very often.
Go and see about getting a physio referral if I were you, xxxx

I agree with Bells and Lisa - GP and physio referral required.

Jasper - I realise you posted this some time ago now but just wondered how the pelvic pain was and if it has gone? Since giving birth last July my pelvic area hasn't felt right, I get twinges, mostly at night, and I find it hard to get comfy in bed and sleep with a pillow between my legs. A hot water bottle helps. I had a forcep delivery so was a bit battered and bruised inside but thought it would've let up by now.

I had a smear last week and that came back clear (was fearing the worst).
