Hi hun,

It's the waiting for those phone calls and not knowing what is going on which is the worst, isn't it? Nearly there!

try not to worry about the number of cells at this stage - I had a day3 transfer with a 6 cell embryo and have heard of many people getting bfps with the same and less!! The embryologists are obviously happy with their progress and often they look at them in the morning and any time after that they could have divided again...like 5 minutes later!!

Dont' despair!!

I got a twin bfp with 2 x 4 cell on day 3! Also had 6 cell on day 3 and got a bfp.

In fact on one transfer I had a 6 cell that jumped to 7 by the time they went to trassfer it i.e. 15 minutes! Hope that you got good news!

Help with embryo grading

Hello althoug this is my seccond cycle of ivf/icsi this is the first time we have had emvryos, they called today to say that the two they injected had fertilised and today I got the grading.

We have a GRADE 2, 4 CELL & a GRADE 2, 7 CELL on day 2.

So can anyone tell me what this means, i mean i know they have devided that many time but is the grading good? Is it not a bit fast, i have been reading fast progression can be bad, but i have no idea.

Embryology said it was nice progression but the way I see it you ladies will tell me exactly how it is

Hi there

Grade 2 embryos (when graded 1-4 with 1 being highest) are the most common and good quality. In relation to cell numbers, the range for day 2 is 2-4 cells and for day 3 is 6-8 cells. the day of fertilisation is classed as day 0. If you had EC on Monday then the 4 cell embryo is a little slow or if you had EC on Tuesday then the 7 cell is a bit fast!

Are you having them put back today? They won't put back any embryos that they would consider abnormal.

I had EC on tuesday and there going back in on friday for a 3 day transfer so embryos are on day 2. The 7 cell is clearly a bit fast.

I had a grade 2, 3&4 cell put back at day 2. The 7 is a little fast, but you can't rule your little embie out just yet. From experience, I would just go and enjoy your ET, sit tight on the 2WW and not worry about the number of cells or grading. Some girls have bad quality embies transferred and get a BFP whereas some have A grade blasts and end up with a BFN.

A little bit of hope and faith goes along way. Good luck!!! :rainbow:

how is an embryo graded? is 1 best or 4 best etc....??

just a quicky that puzzling me.How do i know if my grade is good or bad.I had 1 10 cell and 1 8 cell put back in today and the doc said they were grade 3 how do i know which end of the scale that is.Anyone know how MFS work? :headache

hi there

the grading varies from clinic to clinic so you need to ring and ask them. Can I ask where you are having treatment as they seem not to keep you terribly well informed.

My clinic (Care) grades 1-4 with 1 being the best but I say this ONLY as my clinic's experience. You need to ask your own place.

Congratulations on being PUPO, how many days EC are you? they sound nice and lovely with lots of cells.

This time I had a Grade 1 4 cell and a grade 2 4 cell (day 2 embies) put back and got my BFP so its all to play for. x

Hey Bravegirl i am with manchester MFS they are a lovely clinic,but you are right i seem t have to ask them everything!.I have had them put back in on day 3.

Just called the clinic now and asked what a grade 3 is in there eyes and she said i need to stop worrying about grades they wouldn't have put them back if they were not viable!!

hmm, thats pretty unhelpful. If the grading is irrelevant why did they bother telling you the grading at all??!!!

Oh well hon, the fact of the matter is you have 2 lovely embies back and both have a perfect number of cells and that is very important. They are growing inside you literally as you type to me - think about that!

You need to now just focus on being PUPO, getting some rest and feeling positive that you got this far as lots of ladies dont x

I had a treatment report sent today from Bourn Hall and it says the embryo we had transfered was Grade 4AB, does anyone know what this means?

6 cell embies on 3DT

Hi peeps

just wondered if anyone could help. yesterday i had a day 3 transfer with x2 6-cell embies. i asked the grading but the embryologist said its not relavant and didn't tell me.
so my question is - has any one had 6 cell embies transfered on day 3 and got a BFP? as far as i'm aware 8 cell embies are better than 6 but just trying to be hopeful my little 6 cell embies will make it.

hey hun just to confuse you its not just down the scells its also wether or not there fragmented a non fragmented egg at 6 cell is better than a fragmented 8 cell

see told you i would confuse you, but i have got 2 6 cell embies on board but both are fragmented so not great graded

1st ICSI freeze all OHSS

Try not to worry, I had 2 4 cell embies transferred on Day 2 and got my BFP. Had exactly the same on my first cycle with no success. There's no logic to it - just need the embie to be sticky. Good luck!

I also had two 4-cell embies put back on Day 2 (as I only had two of them anyway)! You can see the wonderful outcome below! My first cycle we retrieved 12 eggs and had two blastocysts put back on Day 5 with nothing to show for it....just the luck of the draw I think. I read somewhere that 'normal' fertile women only stand 25% chance of getting BFP each month they try so I guess it is just luck once the embies are replaced....good luck!

i guess it is all down to luck at the end of the day, as i also had a blasto last cycle with no outcome. just thought with my embies not been the 8 cells at day 3 then they won't have as much chance. but i suppose i'll find out in 14days!!!

BooBoo, I wouldn't worry about the grades - i think it is just down to if the little ones stick or not - mine were a 7 cell and a 3 cell and she said they were both fine for a three day transfer as what they are looking for is for them to be dividing and 'cleanly' without much fragmentation - so yours should be fine!!!

how are blastocysts graded.. in my clinic they had told that the embryos were 96cells and 64cells respectively on 5th day when they did ET.. but nothing worked out for me.. so wanted to know more about blastocysts like how many celled embryo shd be formed on day 5 of culture?
