Baseline scan shows a cyst - got to down-reg for another week - HELP!

Hi All,

I have been down-regging for 2 weeks now, and have had a bleed. Went for my baseline scan today to be told I have a cyst on my right ovary. We already know that my left ovary has completely shut down, so we're totally reliant on the right one.

They've told me I have to double the dose of the buserlin and go back in another week for another scan.

Obviously I'm gutted and worried. Anyone know anything about this? What does it mean? Will the cycle have to be cancelled? Will I have (even less!) chance of getting any eggs?

I have premature ovarian failure, but have successful had a little boy via ICSI (we also have male factor issues!) in the past...

Any help or information greatfully received - thank you!

Hi Sarah,
This does happen and it's quite common. Basically your ovary has not switched off and it just needs a bit more d/r drugs. As they said in a week they will see, but it should be ok. Your cycle is only delayed. Sometimes they aspirated the cyst if it doesn't go down.
Don't panic :cuddle

Thank you

Thanks so much Maria. Having just one working ovary, it's scared me that now that one is stuffed too.

I have to double the dose, so another 14 needles... Yuck! And a week of delay... I have to admit, I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself tonight!

Dusky7 - thank you too, sending big hugs your way too. xxx

Thanks again, your post has cheered me up lots.

Still there...

A quick update from me...

The cyst is still there, after a week of double dose of burserlin... They've now done a blood test too, and they want me in on Monday for another scan and an aspiration if it's still there. So really that's another week of delay, more burserlin, an extra blood test and a sedation/aspiration - before we can move to stims.

I'm really sad and anxious. But I guess we just have to keep going. Onwards and upwards!

Oh hon [zx127] How infuriating!!! So sorry you have even more of a delay, though the end is in sight, if it does need aspirating then at least you can relax knowing that it is completely gone and you can get going on your stmms.

Nearly there hon [zx127] Xxxxx

Thank you

Thanks Dusky! You're so sweet, and the support and encouragment is very much appreciated.

Apologies that I've bailed out of the cycle buddies thread - but I'm so far behind now... I hope everyone is doing well. I think of everyone often, but it's been a really tricky few weeks (IVF problems, had conjunctivitus, Alex has had norovirus - aggghh!) and I haven't been on much. Any spare time has been spent trying to catch up with work as I'm behind as a result of time off for illness/appointments etc. I'm finding things a bit of a struggle at the moment. Tell the ladies I said hi and that I'm sending them heaps of babydust their way.

Maybe I'll join the next cycle buddies thread... Once we're actually going forward with things...

Love, Sarah xxx
