The results are in

Hello everyone and happy new year. I did my first Semen Analysis (SA) nearly two years ago because my wife and I have been trying for a baby for three years now (since 2008), but unfortunately it has not happened. When I first did my SA in around June 2010 the results were:

Volume: 6 ml

Motility: 30%

Morphology: 8%

Sperm Count: 6.0

My current (as of December 2011) SA results are:

Volume: 7.0

Count: 13

Motility: 90

Morphology: 1

It is disheartening that the morphology is only 1. My wife will be doing some tests in the coming months to make sure that everything is ok within her own department. She has not had any test done on her yet.

With the current results, any hope for us?

Sperm count , motility aren't too bad at all mate - plenty of the little swimmers wil be fine and fit for purpose - yes morphology plays a part but with the numbers involved you will have millions that are fit for purpose it just may take a little while. Well timed love making day 10to16 of your partners cycle (if standard 28 day ish) every day or at least every other should help and worth having her checked out too just to make sure. Best of luck D :D

Jade, morphology is the shape and form of the sperm. Higher % of "normal" supposedly means they will be better swimmers and more likely to achieve successful fertilisation. Low % normal = less chance but not impossible. In ivf / iui / icsi the best sperm are selected and used. Hope this helps.
