Fertility tests - any advice before I see the doc?

Hi everyone
DP has recently had a reversal and we don't know yet whether it will be successful, but in the meantime I have an appointment next week with the doctor to see if I need any fertility tests myself. 2 years ago I already had quite extensive tests, including cycle monitoring with ultrasound and daily blood tests (which showed that I did ovulate, at least on that occasion) and since then I have had 3 cycles of ICSI which failed. The doc said at the time that I seemed normal and healthy so should not have difficulty TTC naturally, but obviously that was a while ago and I am now 40. What questions and tests should I ask from the doctor?

Here's what I have already thought of -

smear test
FSH and AMH levels

- is it worth doing a test to check my fallopian tubes (in case they are blocked)? - the assistant mentioned this on the phone but maybe it's unnecessary at this stage?
- are there any other tests or questions I should ask about?

I am already BBT charting and looking out for mucus.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hey Wishful,
There are so many tests that can be done to determine what is preventing you from getting preggers.
If you type in level 1 and level 2 bloodtests on the forum you will get a lot of information. AMH is defo a good one but only shows how you will react to stimulation and some say it shows your ovarian reserve.
All the best!!

Hi Wishful,
Day 1-3 hormone profile (fsh, lh and estradiol), day 21 progesterone and amh (you can do this at any time of the cycle) are a good start. If you are going to have ICSI there is no point to look at your tubes as the process will bypass them anyway. If you have been tryIng naturally properly for a while and you didn't succeed that it is something to consider.
Some clinics like you to heave hysteroscopy to check the uterus. Maybe you want to have an ultrasound scan to start of with.
Start with the basic hormone tests and semen analysis for your husband.

Good luck

Thanks Lief and Maria for your advice.

We have to wait about 2 months before DP can do a SA, so in the meantime I think I'll just ask for the basic hormone tests to be rerun. It is always useful to know what condition I'm in... If the SA comes up ok then we'll TTC naturally before trying any more intensive tests.
