AMH - low 1.95

Hi all

New to this site.

Have had various blood tests and hsg normal

Have had my AMH results back, consultant said low 1.95. Bit confused as does that mean impossible to conceive naturally? She has prescribed me 2 x 50g clomiphine to take on day 2 of my period.

Help !

Hi Hun welcome to FZ you will find tons of advise and info on here and generally fab ladies to lend an ear. Your AMH levels give you a guide to your ovarian reserve doesnt nessesary mean you wouldn't conceive naturally. Have you been told you would need fertility treatment?
Check out the general fertility link off the main forum page xxx

Hi Claire
Welcome to FZ
I too have a very low AMH 1.7 and had been ttc for 10 years but we had male factors also to contend with. As Mistykins says AMH is your egg reserve (I never knew what that meant til I joined FZ lol!!) I needed ICSI to conceive and now have a gorgeous boy, so don't give up, you may be able to conceive naturally, have you been ttc for long? Has your partner or husband had any tests done?
You'll find all the info you need on this site, if you've any probs or questions ask away, we're all here to help and support each other [zx127]
Best of luck

Welcome to FZ! I have a low AMH too, mine is just 1.79 (at least that was two and half years ago so heaven knows what it is now!) I gave up on my eggs and chose to go the donor route but there are plenty of positive stories on here from ladies who got their BFP despite a low AMH.

:goodluck: to you.

Love Gracie

Thank you for your replies. I have been given very limited information, and have been a bit shy in asking for explanations. I have noticed when I look through the site a lot of people have their blood test results etc on there. I haven't asked for any! All i know is I'm not ovulating and my AMH is 1.95. My HSG came back as normal They said my husbands sperm result is normal. So have been prescribed 2 x 50g of clomiphene (although looking at net the standard dose is 1 x 50g so don't understand why my dose is double). She didn't really say anything else! If I have a low ovarian reserve, will I still produce eggs?

Hi Claire,

I too have low amh (0.67 last Jan!). It's a horrible experience getting that news. If you can find Peter Entwistle's (is that the right spelling?) posts here about the value of the amh test, they are really helpful.

FIrstly, you have probably had day 3 and 21 bloods done - they test for FSH (day 3) and Progestrone (day 21). They will tell you if you tend to ovulate naturally etc. Yes, with low amh you can still ovulate (I do regularly, with unmedicated progestrone of up to 42) but the egg quality may not be the best (basically, depending on your age).

I think clomiphene sounds like a version of Clomid which is the first drug that the system tends to give. It will help you ovulate - but, be warned, it can have difficult side effects (for me it was like bad PMT all month!). I was also on 100g, we were both probably given a higher dose because of the low amh. Don't worry, much higher levels can be prescribed. Are you getting follicle tracking with the Clomid (to see if you respond)? I wasn't but went and got day 21 bloods done at my local doctors to keep an eye on things.

Low MH

Thank you for reply, I am starting the clomid in January as Dr scuba from Mayday Hospital says they close down a bit during December Cycle and they do want to keep an eye on me while I am on it with Cycle monitoring. I do feel rather pleased with the monitoring really as any side effects I have or problems I can see Dr Shuba on a regular basis and she's really nice so I can ask her what I want to. I did have cycle monitoring with her at the start of my investigations and she said then I only have 3 to 4 antral follicles, and told me then my egg reserve was low. I do feel very depressed over it all. Just had my 39th birthday at the weekend, and now feel maybe its not destined to be x
