AMH Question

Hi

Hope everyone is ok, just wondering if anyone can help with my question ??

Im totally confused with AMH i have looked for the answer to my quetstio on here but no luck

I have an AMH test done last year and my result was 7.09 (i know rubbish) so i have been panicing thinking not much time left but when we went back to see the cons he said that really it was aprox 10 bacause they have to times it by 1.4

Is this right ? i know 10 is still not the best but its a little better than 7 so i would take it lol

Thank for any info

Hi, I found this info on the internet and thought you might find it helpful.

My AMH was 2.4 and I'm assuming the result was pmol/L because the consultant told me I had the ovarian reserve of someone 10 years younger than me! However he also said that just because it was low didn't mean that I couldn't get pregnant just that our journey might take a little longer.

I wish you lots of luck
Ovarian Fertility Potential pmol/L ng/mL

Optimal Fertility 28.6 - 48.5 4.0 - 6.8
Satisfactory Fertility 15.7 - 28.6 2.2 - 4.0
Low Fertility 2.2 - 15.7 0.3 - 2.2
Very Low / undetectable 0.0 - 2.2 0.0 - 0.3
High Level > 48.5 >6.8

I use that webiste too. You need to look at the units they have used in your test as there are 2 different ones. I have never heard that they have to time it by 1.4.
If yours is 7 pmol/L ng/mL then it means you will not make 20 eggs during stimming, but may make 10. My amh is 0.8 and I make 3, so 7 is not so bad really. Don't beat yourself up! babydust

Hi there,

I've never heard of multiplying by 1.4, but I know there are 2 charts...so could be to get the 2nd chart results they multiply by 1.4????

I would ask on Monday and put your mind at rest.

Your AMH is definetly high enough to get pg. Don't worry.

As Maria says, hers is lower than yours and she is still able to produce eggs / embryos.

Good luck.

I know this thread is a little old but I have some info that may help the 1.4 times question....

I received my result today (4.7 eeek!!) but on the bottom of the letter, after the ranges for low, normal etc, it says:

"There was a change in the methodology to the AMH 2nd generation assay with effect from 06/09/2010. Values are expected to be around 40% higher than those obtained previously. For comparison between 1st generation and 2nd generation assays, results should be multiplied by 1.4."

So I guess you should look at your results against the ranges published at the time. But if you are looking at older (pre 6th Sep 2010) results against todays ranges you should times by 1.4 (and I guess if you have had tests both before and after that dates, to see how they compare). :mmmmmm

Hope that helps!

Ooh I don't know I'm afraid. I had assumed there was one standard test for all clinics but I could be wrong.

That was from The Doctor's Laboratory in Wimpole St, London who do the testing for Dr Gorgy's patients (FGA) and other clinics (ARGC)? I did google it and it brought a few journal articles up which makes me think its not specific to TDL but that just guess work. I am assuming that as rache's consultant was going to do that calculation her clinic uses the 2nd generation?
