What actually happens in IUI?

I know the basics but what I want to know is timescales etc?

So does IUI start from CD1? Do you have injections? Tablets? Scans, and if so when? etc etc...

Just trying to get an idea. thanks in advance x

I think it depends. I think some people have clomid, others injections. I haven't had it done myself. You may want to read this: INFO: A ROUGH GUIDE TO IUI

Take care

Hi, Princess
It really does depend on which protocol your clinic follows.
The simplest cycle is one where you wait for a natural LH surge by doing tests, call the clinic when you surge and then go in 2 days later for insem.

A basic Clomid cycle would mean taking Clomid over a period of 5 days on days indicated by your clinic followed by a scan somewhere around day 8-10 to check if there is any progress and then possible further scans and insem after the LH surge or, when the scan detects a follie that is 18mm or larger then you take a trigger shot which is followed by insem 24-36 hours later.

A simple stim injection cycle would include injections (with or without Clomid) with monitoring scans again from day 8 or 10 till you have a large enough follie, trigger shot and insem.

I have also seen ladies on here who have had the full cycle that is similar to IVF protocol: downregulation from day 21 of the cycle, day one or two scan, stimulation with injections, trigger shot and then insem.

On any and all of these you may be required to supplement with progesterone pessaries, cream or injections if indicated by your clinic.

Timelines are not simple to predict as insem will happen based on how and when your ovaries respond and I have had insem anywhere from day 14 to day 26 of a cycle.
The earliest you should test is 14 days after insem but many clinics ask that you only test on day 16, 17 or even 21 after insem.

Good luck, Hun

My iui is as follows; Ive gota take clomid days 2-5 and go in for tracking scan which for me start this cycle on cd10. Once they see a large folicle ive been given this injection to take...which they are apparant going to show me how to do it at home myself!!!! Then that will make me release an then i go back to the clinic and df so they can do the insemination. Not too sure of anything after that at the moment but im gona ask next week when i go x

Thanks girls.

My Con mentioned injections. Thats all I know, dont know which ones or when or anything else ATM. Oh, and just that we can start from next CD1 if my AMH levels and Hep B/C and HIV tests are back in time. (AMH should be back today giving us about 14days until we can start!)

I dont mind how they go about treating me. Just have a slight reservation about the amount of follies they get me to produce! x
