2nd IUI up and running

Hi Ladies

Not been on for a while as been busy at work and on holiday. But started 2nd IUI at a new hospital so completely different protocol from 1st attempt. Been taking the Pill (really felt weird taking that again, and it made me feel pretty yukky too) for 1 month to ensure timing of stimming and insemination would suit the clinic. Last on today and start stimming again on Monday with new injections. Insemmination booked for Halloween all being well.

Sooo back on the roller coaster but feeling calmer this time as know what to expect.

HIya Kirstie :)

what protocol are you on.. do you start stimming (alone) on day 2 or so of a cycle (ie after you have a period) or have they got you downregging ?

Tons of luck with it all

Thanks ladies. My current protocol is that I down regged on the Pill for 4 weeks, then wait for period then start injecting very other day for 1 week then scanned to checked follies and possibly insemination 1 or 2 days later.

funny how different hospitals differ isn't it.. nothing like causing confusion to us all!

Are you excited about starting this new cycle?

I'm sort of excited, every new process is a new chance of getting a bfp after all, but having failed once I'm thinking why should it work this time.

Works pretty busy too so I've not really had much time to think about it, I'm sure it will seem more real once I start injecting and stimming. I wasn't going to tell anyone this cycle as parents and sister seemed quite disinterested last time, but caved in and told mum today as felt guilty not telling her. She was pleased we're starting another cycle so we'll see if I get any more support than last time.

It should be so much less stressful this time too as the new hospital is only 20 minutes away and I only have to go twice, whereas the old one was a 2 hour drive each way and I had to go every other day for scans for nearly 2 weeks.

great that this hospital is closer.. takes a lot of pressure off you when travel and time isn't an issue.

it is exciting starting again isn't it!

do you tell many of your friends about it.. maybe they would be bit more understanding?
It's difficult to guess how people would react..my Dad is the one that suprised me. He is incredibly interested in it all, he asks how we are doing and when things start again etc. Bless him!

Thanks Cheryl

Lisa - I don't really have any close friends that I can talk to about it, one friend is single and has PCOS and whenever I've mentioned it before she just says 'Well I can't have children either!' which is not strictly true, she has never tried and doesn't know if she can't, she has just been told that PCOS can make it harder. So no real support there. My other good friend has 3 children who I'm godmother to and is one of those people who knows EVERYTHING!!!!! and just gives me a long list of things I should do...Hmmm you guessed it - relax, stop working so hard, stop running, go on holiday, eat this, take that....gosh I never would have thought of any of those things!!

At least I have an amazing hubby who is desperate for children and has been for much longer than we've been trying. I can always talk to him and he's my best friend really. We've been together for 20 years in June, although only married for 4, so planning a fabulous second honey moon.

Did my first injection last night after a dreadful dive home late from the airport after a conference. Soo very tired and the new protocol was somewhat confusing and stressful in itself. Had to mix a diluent with 2 doses of drug using a syringe and managed to cut myself trying to snap off the glass top of the diluent vial, so had to start all over again once I'd managed to plaster up my wound. But managed it all int he end and the actual injecting was fine.

Next injection now tomorrow night as it's 150iu every ither night.

Totally gutted, went for scan today to check on follies ready for insemination later this week and my womb lining isn't thick enough so they abandoned my cycle. Been waiting so long, and next attempt probably won't be until January as they ahve to get their timings right, just feel so crap and useless.
