Short Protocol - timings??

Hi everyone,

I'm new here!:hello: I'm a little confused about my next ICSI. Doctor said it would be a short protocol. I'm to wait for my next AF and then start on the pill on the 2nd day of my cycle. On the 17th day I go in for a scan.

I assume I start stimms after this scan...normally how long do you stimm for? Has anyone had a short protocol similar to this one?

Thanks.
1st ICSI- Dec/09 - neg.

Short Protocol

Hi Jennifer

I have had short protocol the last couple of times before my frozen embryo transfer. I had to phone on day 1 of my period then have a day 3 basal scan to make sure the lining was thin enough to start progynova tablets i had to take them for 2 weeks then I had another scan to make sure it was thick enough then had to start taking 600mg of cyclogest pessaries once the transfer had taken place I had to increase the progynova tablets to 8 mg and the pessaries to 800 mg.I had to be taking the pessaries about 4 days prior to transfer.

Hope this helps :)

Hi Jennifer

I did short protocol and am due to do it again in October, this is how it went...

cd1-ring clinic so they can book first scan in for cd8
cd2-start menopur injections
cd5-start cetrotide injections as well as the menopur
cd8-first follicle scan
continued with both injections and 2 more follicle scans until ready for EC (aprox 2 weeks from starting injections to EC)

Good luck with your tx xxxx

5 cycles (3 xICSI, 2 x FET) All BFN
3 x cycles (2 x ICSI, 1 x FET) with basic immunes-All BFN
First appointment with Dr Gorgy-2nd April 2013-discussed another cycle using LIT and Humira. More tests done...awaiting results.

Thank you so much...this is a big help. I'm still waiting for my period this month and I will be taking the pill to downregulate. I will be starting my ICSI in early November.

Hi Jennifer

I did short protocol last time and am on it this time: I had to ring on day 1 and then started the pill for 4/5 weeks last time (3 weeks this time) and had a scan about 5 days after I stopped taking it and started injecting buserelin and puregon the next day. I then injected both of them for 12 days before my trigger shot but it should only have been for about 10 days (I didn't have enough follies the right size at the last scan so had to have an extra couple of days stimming). I had scans a week after starting injecting and 10 days after.

Hope this is helpful.

Hi Girls

I thought that when you have to d/r this is the long protocol?? and when you don't have to d/r and just go straight on to stimms then this is the short protocol! I did the latter and it was the short protoco!!

I'm really confused by people saying they are doing the short one but are d/r'ing!!

Hi Gemma

I think with short protocol you go on the pill so the clinic can control your cycle with the buserelin stopping you from ovulating but ask your clinic if you're not sure. I'm a complete pain with loads of questions!

Hi Kate

Oh, i was led to believe that going on the pill first was the long protocol, which would make sense as you would be going through a cycle for a much longer period of time!

Oh it's all very confusing! I'll just do what i'm told to do on my treatment plan, lol! xxx

Hi girls,

I did the long protocol last time and I didn't have to take the pill. I downregulated with injections. Now that I'm doing the short protocol my clinic told me to take the pill for a month. It's not really downregulating, it's basically shutting down your system. Stopping everything...before you start stimming. I responded really well to stimms last time, so they don't see why I need to downregulate and do the long protocol.

So, I think the 3 of us are November cycle buddies, am I correct? Let's hope 3 is a charm. :angel2:

Hi Girls
I have been told my Jan cycle is SP.
Apparently I will have the following

Clomid day 2 - 2 tabs a day for 5 days
Then Scan
Then stims 375iu per day for up to as many days deem necessary.

Does this seem right & has anyone else done that please?
