Will PCT consider funding us as we have funded one cycle ourselves?

Hello

I had one NHS funded cycle of IVF in 2008 and we have just funded our second cycle. We are only offered 3 free cycles of IUI and one IVF in this area.

Would our PCT still consider us for funding as we have funded one cycle ourselves? I have only just realised that you can apply for further funding and as we just don't have the finances to fund further treatment at this stage, feel that this might be worth a shot, what are your thoughts?

Also are their any tips on what i should be putting in the letter?

I spoke to the nurse today about applying for funding and she said basically we have zero to no chance of getting funding in this current climate and that the NHS are considering lowering the amount of treatments offered inn some areas.

She said have a go if you want, you have nothing to loose.

Has anyone been granted funding recently and what were your circumstances?

Hi Missy Moo,

We have just completed our 1st cysle of icsi nhs funded. we are in the west midlands, dudley area and had out treatment at b'ham womens. We are only entilted to 1 cycle on nhs, same as you. Also, we had 4 embies left over to freeze which we have to pay for the freezing ourselves, nhs will not cover this. Currently on 2ww at the moment and we will pay for FET if this cycle is unsuccessful. Our reason is DH has low sperm count and motility. We had no problem getting funding for 1 cycle but have been told this is it. You really have nothing to loose though by trying to get further funding, especially if you have already funded a cycle yourselves. Good luck, i really hope it works out for you.
