Sussex Downs Fertility Hospital, Eastbourne

Hi there
I am due to go here for an appointment on Thursday - it isn't listed so I created a new thread. I am 42 and my husband has low sperm count, poor mobility, heads and tails so I am not sure what they will suggest. I have good FSH hormone level for my age so the local hospital said. I am a bit nervous be grateful for some advice - not looking forward to pumping myself with the drugs for harvesting eggs - has anyone done that and how did they get on.

Hi Claire
Sorry that i can't help you more with clinic advice but i notice that you have already been for your 1st appointment and i was wondering how it went?
From their website the clinic looks nice and they seem to have good success rates

Hi Michelle

Thank you for your reply I am due to go back this Tues/Wed to be shown how to use the drugs and injections. They have decided on ICSI so fingers crossed - feeling a bit nervous but hopeful too - fingers crossed first time lucky.

Hi Claire,

I have been treated at SDFC twice now and they are just so lovely and supportive. I have had donor IUI, BFN last month  but had my second DIUI yesterday! I cant really give you any advice on drugs etc but I hope I can put your mind at rest re the staff. I have called up loads of times over the last few months and they are always patient, despite asking some stupid questions sometimes, and they were truly gutted when I didn't catch last month.

If I can help any more please get in touch, otherwise all the very best

Hi Flamelily

Yes they are all lovely. When I had my egg transfer my husband lost my engagement ring - it had been snowing outside and we thought we would never find it - the staff hunted through hoover bags etc and finally found it sat on the front step of the building - how is that for personal service! My DH sent them some flowers to thank them :snigger:

I was talking to DH and he says it is work the journey to stay with the same clinic which is what we will do - I have got to call them and set up an appointment again to see what we need to do next.

It is great to meet someone else who is there too x How are you getting on?

Just in case anyone else is due to start treatment at the Esperance, I too would highly recommend it. We had our first ivf cycle there in March (bfn sadly) but we have no complaints about the treatment there at all. The staff are great, very caring and patient, and the environment is clean and comfortable too. We are hoping to start our second cycle in the next month or two.

not helpful

Hi

I have been on the waiting list with this clinic for years (ED) and have had treatments with them in the past. I have not been impressed by my recent expereinces with them. They refused to scan me whilst I had treatment abroad (another clinic happily obliged). They told me on the phone that they didn't want get involved (exact words) and were very rude and dismissive. Then my GP managed to get me an apponitment with them for the scan and they wanted to charge £310!!!!! I can see what their priority is and it doesn't appear to be patient care.
