Lovely to hear that your DH is willing to look into adoption. I think that you will find that most of the agencies will have guidelines for ages of birth children. The reason I suspect is that the child that is being adopted needs total focus and attention having experienced everything they have gone through and by having a younger child this would impact the quality time you would spend as they would need looking aftert and nurturing too.

I know it sound a long time and the process is a long time but really enjoy your little one as the process is totally emotional and exhausting.

I know this is forward planning and possibly silly thinking too far ahead when our baby hasn't arrived yet but I'd like to adopt and I didn't even consider that you'd have to wait until your child was a certain age. I was hoping to start the process 6 months-1 year after baby born. Will they let you apply and get approved earlier but not match you to a child until the baby is the right age? We were thinking of adopting 1 or 2 older kids ( aged 3-5) so if we wait til our baby is 2 before applying our baby will be between 3-5 too when we hopefully manage to adopt, I'd have preferred to have done it when our baby was younger.
