Why do you start down regulating on Day 21?

Hi there

I am about to go on Prostrap for two months as a down regulator. The Dr has advised me to go on Day 21. Does anyone know why you need to start down regulating on Day 21. Is it because it is a week post ovulation.

My ovulation can sometimes be as late as Day 19/20 so am wondering if this will affect things?

Hi Nicol,

I am on the Prostrap for two months before becasue I have endo and have cysts on my ovary (this has just been aspirate via a laparoascopy. Yes - this is our first time. We are headed down the ICSI route as DH sperm isn't great.

Fingers crossed. Just had the prostrap injection today and believe it takes a week to kick in.. Very interested to see what I will be like...

You have to d/r on day 21 so that you don't ovulate the next cycle while you have the tx. They want to control ovulation.
Sometimes you can d/r from day 1 as well. Some of the timings is to fit in with the clinic's schedule.
d/r is very good to prevent endo coming back.

I'm also wondering about this because I don't ovulate at all, and have 41-45 day cycles, so I'm a bit confused about this Day 21 thing. ?( As Day 21 doesn't really mean anything in my cycle. Hmmm...

Im by no means an expert but think they wait for you to have an AF then start you on day 21 regardless. If your AF doesnt come on its ow I think they try and induce one for you so your lining is nice and thin for starting. Think the pill is used for this?

i started on day 1 of my period as i have pco and irregular so they told me even tho i said im regular but hey ho lol.

Its all about the easiest way to control your body also depending on when they want to fit you in to the clinic has a bearing on when you can start
1st ICSI freeze all OHSS
1st FET :BFN:
2nd ICSI test date 3rd Nov :BFN:
2nd FET feb 12 :BFN:
