a cold won't effect your chances of a bfp, you can take paracentmol and i would also try some hot lemon tea with honey

Awww poor you Candy! Kar's right though, it won't make any difference.

You're probably a bit run down after all the stress of tx. Just rest up and look after yourself hun. :hugs: xxx

Having a bad cold during 2WW

Hi girls

I am in the 2nd week of my 2ww and I have developed a bad cold, do you think this could affect my chances? I was due to go back to work mon, so have taken today off but was thinking of maybe taking a couple more days off..

I am really worried

I had a bad cold too during my last cycle... it seemed to have helped! I'm now 19 weeks pregnant!

So please do not worry, having a bad cold will not affect your chances. Some might say having a weakened immune system might even help (but I'm not sure I believe that). I'd take a few days off if you can, but only because you must be exhausted and you deserve to have some TLC.

Lots of luck to you

Congratulations

I wish I could stop worrying, it is the worst 2 weeks ever!!!! I not getting the TLC that I need at the mo, my husband is stressing and worrying about it all and his way of dealing with it is taking it out on me, which then stresses me out. I feel like I going round in a circle.

thanks :shush:

I've developed a nasty chesty cough this last couple of days  my 'normal' logical self says i'm sure it won't really make a difference to the outcome of a cycle but i think its normal to worry about everything at this stage :snigger:

The one thing to do is keep cool, if you are running a temperature expose your belly to the cool air so that the embryos are not subjected to high temperatures. A high temperature can adversely effect the embryo.

Hi Dory, Sorry to hear you're feeling unwell

It's actually really common for ladies to get colds during IVF, and it won't affect the treatment in any way. (Mavis had an awful cold just before her EC if I remember rightly!!) The only way EC will be cancelled is if you have a severe chest infection and won't be able to tolerate the anaesthetic - but this is very unlikely.

Until then, you can safely take paracetamol for the pain in your throat. It's a good idea too to have steamy baths/showers as inhaling steam will help loosen any phlegm and make things a bit easier for you. Get plenty of rest and drink plenty of fluids and I hope you feel better soon :xxx3:

Hi Dory,

Sorry that you are feeling yuk Hun

Like Moonshine has said, it won't do you any harm to have a cold/sore throat during TX, apart from causing you stress and making you feel yuk!! X(
I had a sore throat for a few days after I got pregnant and I took a blackcurrant/honey linctus from boots, it is completely safe to use during pregnancy, so would be ideal for during TX too.
Inhaling steam is also a great idea and will help to clear all your tubes out.

Good Luck! xx

Thanks girlies

Feeling really pants (like big granny apple catching ones!!!) DH keeps telling me not to worry but i just feel like the slightest thing will put a halt to things!!! As long as it won't effect the ec collection i am happy to sit out a sore throat and sniffles!!! i think i was just more worried that it would effect the treatment!!!

Off to my second scan now, the magic wand awaits!!!!

I forgot to say because this country is so backward you can't even get paracetamol in the shops so have to see the docs to get prescribed, talk about wasting their time!!! :-( x

Hi Dory,
As Moonshine says, I had such a bad cold and cough during my last EC and ET. Unless you really are on your last legs, everything will go ahead and planned. Colds are really common and this does happen all the time.
Lots of luck with your second scan,
M

Mavis

When you have your ec do they do a medical to check you are in good health before hand?

My cold is wearing off now, but got a mild cold and feel a bit out of breath, wouldn't normally be worried about it but because the ec is on my mind i can't stop thinking that something will go wrong.

I asked my consultant if it would affect anything and he said it depends on the person giving the general sometimes they don't like to put you under unless you are in perfect health?? arrrghhhh he didn't reassure me at all, i know there is nothing i can do to change things but i really worried that something is going to hunder my chances.

My ec is looking like thurs now so i am hoping i will be better by then anyway xx
