Hi Andrea,

My consultant is Dr Mustafa. This is my third IVF/ICSI, but 1st cycle at James Cook. I'am really sorry to hear that it hasnt worked for you and hope you can try again. My 1st cycle didnt work but my 2nd did, howeevr i miscarried at 9 & 1/2 weeks. Can you tell me how you found your egg collection? because my last 2 were awful. They say they give you a pethadine here & sedation so i hope i fall asleep.

Hi Jayne

Sorry about your last 2 attempts, xfingers you'll be 3rd time lucky.
I had pethadine that was a jab in the top of my leg, when they took my to theatre they talked me through what they were going to do and the put a mask on my and i can't remember much else until it was all over. I was sore afterwards but i think that's normal. For the transfer i was awake and never felt a thing. You've got nothing to worry about all the staff are really nice.

We're not sure if we will go there for our 2nd attempt because we're moving further North in June so Newcastle will be closer, you never know we might be able to start sooner rather than later. I'm just waiting on dreaded af to come, if it's not here by wed i have to re test.
Take care and good luck. Let me know how you get on, you can always Pm me if you need to talk or want any other advice
xx

Welcome Leanne,

Im at St Marys in Manchester but thought id mention that alot of clinics ask for BMIs to be between 19 - 30. They wouldnt normally refuse treatment but they may delay it whilst you reach their recommended BMI. They believe being the recommended BMI gives you the best possible chance of success.

You have done really well

Hi Leanne I'm getting ready to start treatment at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the BMI for there is 35. Well done on losing the weight I wish I could do so well. Try and continue to lose the weight and then you will have no worries. Good luck for your appointment.

James Cook University Hospital

Hello everyone

I am having my second cycle of ivf at JCUH and the staff are all fantastic! They never rush you, have always got time to sit and explain things and really help put you at ease. The embryologists are superb.

RE: James Cook University Hospital

Hello all,
We had our ICSI at James Cook and are trying to go private for our second attempt as we had DS - first time lucky! Found all staff fab, embryologists are superb and Dr Mustafa is our hero - he did not give up on us when there wasn't any sperm to be found in DH ejaculate. He did find some, enough to give us DS and we still have 3 vials on ice...

Hi Janeanne,

We had our first appointment at JCUH in February and were told then that it would be at least 10 months before treatment started and we are now at the top of the list so it will have been exactly 10 months when treatment starts. We are having IVF/ICSI so i am not aware of any scans etc as i havn't had them. I was with Mr TAYLOR but he has now retired and i think Mr Mohammed may have taken over from him although we are now under Mr Mustafa.
It is all new to me still so i'm not sure myself what happens next

hi We just saw Mr Mustafa last night to arrange our privately funded ICSI - Sounds like he is now head honcho at the unit at James Cook, working alongside Mr Mohammed. We can start as soon as I can get my bloods, FSH, and baseline scan done, all very exciting! Just waiting for the letter to get the bloods done and then we're off...

Hi
We have had our private appt with Mr Mustafa - we have a green light to go ahead! Just had the letter semi-confirming egg harvesting date for around 1st Feb, all depending on when exactly my period will start in December...it's getting close now...
