How do we get onto the Surrey IVF waiting list which re-opens in April?

Thank you so much ladies Yes maybe I should just wait until I've had the last test (Hycosy) and see what they say then. It was a fertility doctor who was horrid to us. Hopefully we won't see her again or I might make a request not to - what do you think? I'm just waiting for my period to start so I can book the Hycosy appointment. It sounds very scary - I get very nervous. I'm just hoping my period doesn't come and then I won't have to go through anything!! fingers crossed x x Thanks again Jo

How do we get onto the Surrey IVF waiting list which re-opens in April?

Hi everyone I just wanted to ask if anyone knows how to actually get onto the IVF waiting list? I know you have to have a referal from your fertility specialist or whoever but what if they are refusing? We went to our third fertility appointment last month and we came out of it in exactly the same position as we were before - no progress, the doctor was stern and asked me what gives you the right to have IVF treatment - please explain. I thought this was harsh, we have been trying for nearly 3 y...

Third fertility appointment on Friday and want desperately to make some progress, help with questions needed!!

Hi everyone We have our third fertility appointment on Friday, the first appt just a few questions and sent away the second told we weren't allowed IVF on Nhs because of our postcode. We so desperately want to get somewhere with this appointment. We had the first appt in portsmoth and had sperm and blood tests - all fine. We then had to move to Surrey and they requested we have same tests done again so we get these results on Friday too. We've been waiting 6 months for this appointment, does any...

From bad to worse

Hi everyone I've had an awful week, just found out my sister is pregnant and she was on the pill. She has 2 boys already and always said her family is complete she didn't want any more children. I feel so selfish for saying this but I can't believe this has happened its like someone is playing a trick on me. Talk about ironic. We've been TTC for 2.5 years this is the hardest thing that has happened so far. I'm devastated, so so upset I don't know how I'll ever be happy for her , it sounds awful ...

NHS have reviewed IVF funding in Surrey, is this true?

Hi I have heard that Surrey have reviewed the IVF funding on the NHS so now we can receive it from April 2012, does anyone know if this is true? We have been TTC for 2.5 years and have an 2nd appointment in January at our local Surrey hospital with a fertility doctor, we are desperate for some help and this would be amazing news! Thanks for reading Jo

IVF funding in Surrey, help!

Hi We have been TTC for almost 2 years, we've had basic tests done when we lived in Portsmouth and since then moved to Surrey where we have seen another fertility doctor on the Nhs who wants the same basic tests done again ( blood tests and sperm sample) and also told us in Surrey you haveto be 39 years old and have been trying for 3 years so we were instantly refused. She has given us a follow up appointment in January - what for? I don't know. Can I appeal the decision? Shall I wait until Janu...

IUI Chat 2011

Hi Ladies! Does anyone know anything about getting IUI on the NHS? We live in Surrey & we have been TTC for 2 years and the NHS doctor said (at my last appointment to try and get things moving) knew nothing about getting IUI on the NHS and took my mobile number and said she'd get back to me.....that was a long time ago. Just wondering if anyone knew anything or had been trying the same thing? Thanks so much in advance Jo

Fertility Show

Hi Sophie I was looking into going too, have a look at their website (just google it and it will come up) there's certainly a lot there, I read the newspaper reports from last year and they were all pretty good. I am looking for info on what treatments we can get on the NHS and there's people there who can give us advice, I think I might just give it a go! Sorry not very helpful but thought I'd reply with my thoughts! Good luck to you both love Jo

HELP! Can you get IUI on the NHS?

Hi everyone! I need some help! We have been TTC for almost 2 years with erectile dysfunction, we've had tests (blood tests for me & sperm test for DH) all came back OK. We have been to see a fertility specialist on the NHS a few weeks ago who wanted us to leave it another 6 months (who also told us we wouldn't be able to get IVF on NHS as we live in Surrey you have to be 39 to qualify on NHS). She also wanted us to get counselling for the erectile dysfunction but we cant get this on the NHS and ...

I have no idea what to do next - help :(

Thank you so much for the replies You are both right, reassurance is what my DH needs and I have been rubbish at it today! Breaking down is def what he doesn't need, its so hard to hide how I am feeling though when he is the only person I can talk to about this. I was thinking of taking a break? He says its a bad idea as nothing will be achieved but if it calms the stress of everything then maybe it would be worth it. Thanks again, I can't stress enough how nice it is to be able to chat about th...

I have no idea what to do next - help :(

Hi I do not know which way to turn next, I feel like I'm having a break down. Things have just got worse and worse, I cry every day and constantly ask why? We have been TTC for 2 years and nothing is getting any better, to cut the story short - my husband has developed erectile dysfunction (but only sometimes, just been on holiday and everything was fine, just returned and he has no function at all) we've been together for 12 years and he has never had this problem before. Trying to conceive wit...

Does anyone know if we can get IVF in Surrey?

Just wondering if anyone in Surrey has been granted IVF on the NHS? I think this will be our next step but our doctor said she thought we wouldn't be able to get it in Surrey. The postcode lottery is very unfair, we are already desperate but now we feel absolute dispair as we would never be able to afford IVF otherwise. Thanks for listening Jo

Scared to go through another month

Hi We've been to the doctors and she suggested we contact relate, she told us we needed to set it all up so we tried but there was something about a fee on the website so haven't taken it any further yet. She has set an appointment up for me to have an ultrasound (internal) but she also spoke to us about the fact that IVF is not available on the nhs in Surrey, not sure where we go from here, more desperate than ever now and knowing further help is probably not possible is destroying me. Thank yo...

Scared to go through another month

Thank you for the reply it's so nice to be able to talk to someone, we've just moved so have new doctors, yes I will make an appointment for us and go and see what our options are it's prob best place to start. I really hope they consider this a form of infertility too and not just send us to counselling, maybe my DH does need counselling but I think we need help in the mean time with conception x We've been trying with this problem for 2 years and I'm getting towards mid 30's time is ticking aw...

Scared to go through another month

Hi It's been a couple of months since I wrote this, probably the worst couple of months of my life our problem has got even worse and I'm not sure what to do next. Paul your thread really helped and felt comforting to have some suggestions, I really really want to stop trying for a baby as it's the worst thing I've ever experienced and I feel the most alone I've ever felt i'n my life but it won't go away and every month I think oh just maybe my DH will be ok this month. Scared to go through another month

Hi I'm nervous to start another month of TTC as I don't know if I can handle more disappointment my husband has been suffering with erectile disfunction which has only started over the last 6 months, he has taken Viagra but this makes him unable to ejaculate. It's so stressful every month I'm on pins as to whether he will be able to 'perform' I dread having to go through it in case he can't, as after we've tried and if he can't we either fight or I cry , he gets mad. It's so awful. I honestly be...

I am new to this! Looking forward to meeting new friends :)

P.s I thought I should explain - my husband has been suffering from erectile disfunction for about 6 months (never suffered before and we've been together 11 years) he went to doctors and they have him Viagra but this is making him loose sensitivity so can't ejaculate, it's been very tough and hense only being able to have sex a very small number of times a month, so frustrating for him and makes me very sad when I should be being supportive. Tough times! Any suggestions would greatly appriciate...

Hi ladies Just wanted to say thank you so so much for taking the time to reply it means an awful lot to me right now and what you're saying is absolutely true x thank you x it feels so nice I have someone to turn to. My husband got his tests results an doc says everything seems ok so just to keep trying. This is fab news and obviously a massive weight lifted. We just now need DH to be able to perform more often at the moment we are only able to have sex around 3 times a month which just isn't en...
