GCRM

Hi Anniebell, I have recently completed a fresh cycle at gcrm. Following a failed FET at RFC, I knew I wanted to give it another go and was all set to go to a Czech clinic. However life and work commitments were going to make it a stressful option, even though their results and prices were very tempting. So I went for gcrm. The benefits I felt gcrm had over RFC were things such as admin, sedation during egg collection, parking, staff had more time to explain things. But none of those things are ...

Congratulations Anniebell, delighted to read of your Pregnancy. Sorry you had a scare yesterday. I had bleeding during my pregnancy, it is terrifying but it doesn't necessary mean something awful. Hope you are relaxing, none of it is easy.

Anniebell, Hope you don’t mind me popping on here to say best of luck for tomorrow. When I was down to my last embryo and the ‘will it survive the thaw’- I remember that anxiety. But when I was told all was fine- the relief was unbelievable- you swear I got my BFP. So then I was on cloud 9 and it kind of took away that stress of the 2ww. It was like I had all the stressing over me, and was so happy to ‘have a shot’ that I was then really calm and positive. So fingers crossed all goes well and yo...

Is anyone starting downreging in the next week or 2?

All good Anniebell- I was hoping I would be cycling again by now. But my thyroid hormones were slightly out, so getting it into optimum range held me back. I am due to start downreg at the beginning of Aug. So the usual mix of emotions that comes with treatment. Good luck for your treatment Annie

Hi Anniebell, Well done for getting 'your head back in the game'. It's not easy. I have had FET twice, nhs and private, and Weight was not mentioned. The nurse just goes through the medication again, pick up from pharmacy and works out a schedule. Or in some cases you have to ring in for it if you are past day 21. Try and not worry, I know it is hard. All the hard work has been done- your embryo is waiting for you.

Thanks Ashastar, Hopefully your review will help inform your decision. I think it is good for partners/ husbands to hear it too- just even to open up the conversation. It's not that my partner isn't supportive or loves being a daddy- but I think he just drifts along and some how things that it will 'just happen' some time. Even though I was feeling relatively strong, after the review- I felt pretty raw and emotional. Suppose hard to put to bed all those feelings over the years. I still think 'th...

Hi Ashastar- good to hear from you. I went to my review, as I was so unsure of whether to carry on with my age seriously against me. It was good just to talk about what the options open to me- which really was further treatment or call it a day. As I was looking at clinics abroad- I asked questions about particular techniques such as pgs, what he considered pros and cons. He was open to answering questions, was realistic about our chances and at the end of the day it really is our decision. It m...

New and need help

Hi Waiting, Sorry to hear you are having a difficult time. I would ring the Rfc to check they received your referral. As far as I know the waiting time target for a new patient is12 weeks, but of course sometimes they don’t meet the target. You want to make sure they definitely received your referral, so there is no harm in ringing and checking and the expected waiting time. If you look up the RFC- the appointments helpline number is on there. Good luck

Waiting on bloods!

Hi Jo, Sparkle is right- there are two different units. If you google- it will give you the scale of what is low, normal or high for your age. And also how to convert units. AMH gives them an indicator of how your body will response to the medication. But sometimes the body doesn’t play by the statistics! Plus AMH doesn’t give an indication of quality. So less eggs at EC isn’t always a bad thing. In saying that, as I am aged 40- there was some relief that there appears to be some eggs left. Time...

Waiting on bloods!

Hi Odi, I am hoping to cycle abroad. So just recently got my amh tested at the 352 group. I last had mine testing at Rfc 4 years ago, but was never told a figure- only it was fine. Have ordered a summary of my notes, so will be interested to see how much mine has changed in 4 years. Hope you get favourable results.

RFC, GCRM or abroad for round 2?

Hi Martha, It is a very difficult time and I am sure your head is spinning thinking about it. I only have had treatment at Rfc, so cannot really comment on treatment at gcrm and abroad. But like you I am planning my next cycle. But a few things to think about- have you looked at the access scheme at gcrm. I am not egilible as I am 40. Because of my age, the reality is most of my eggs are likely to be abnormal. Unfortunately I had an early miscarriage which was likely due to an abnormal embryo ev...

Hi Ashastar, Yeah the review is included in the price of our FET so you won’t have extra to pay. I rang to find out how long the waiting time for reviews, I thought it might be 12 weeks. But the admin staff said it wouldn’t be that long for private, they had received my letter and were waiting to get the consultants diary to book me in. I haven’t heard anything yet. Like you Ashastar, I want their opinion on further treatment. I am hoping they will give us impartial advice as I feel ivf is such ...
