Bang Goes the Theory - IVF Story tonight on BBC 1 at 7.30pm

Hi I just watched this on BBC I Player. They filmed this at Bourn Hall clinic where I have had 5 lots of IVF. The staff there are fantastic and it was nice to see some familiar faces. It was also interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes in embryology. I kept thinking my gorgeous baby girl was in those incubators ect!! AMAZING! I could do with recording it to show her when she is older. X

Hey Rach I am a day behind you!! My 1st monitoring scan is on Wednesday. I have been stimming for 5 days now. I am feeling quite tired and had aching, tender ovaries today. Lets hope I am growing lots of follies filled with eggs! I have felt better so far on this cycle, I think its down to drinking lots of water. I think my 2nd scan is at Bourn on Sat, EC at start of next week I think. Huggibear - the nurses are lovely at Bourn, very caring. I hope you are feeling better now. The side effects I ...

Clexane

Hi Kel I will be using it after EC this time too. My clinic suggested it as I have had two fresh IVF cycles and one FET all BFN apart from our very first cycles which was a BFP but very sadly ended in a missed miscarriage at 8 weeks. The consultant says it helps with implantation and helps the blood flow through to the plancenta which she thinks may have been the cause of our miscarriage. I will try anything to help. Good luck with your treatment, look forward to reading your BFP post. Tracey x

HI Ladies Billie - After my follow up appointments which have usually been 2-3 weeks after a failed treament they have asked me to wait for 3 periods before treatment starts. On the 1st day of my 3rd AF I have to phone the clinic and then that is day 1 of treatment. on day 21 I usually start DR. They might have asked you to wait longer because maybe they are not booking so many in due to Xmas and New Year. I should be there for EC and ET on November - fingers crossed! Best of luck to all of you ...

H1N1 (Swine Flu) Vaccine

Hi Ladybug I am not a healthcare professional but my work are paying for all staff to have the normal flu jab in a couple of weeks. I was going to have it but thought I'd better check with the clinic first as I will be D/R at the time. They said they would rather I didn't have it as it may interfere with the treatment. Not quite the same, but hopefully this will be a little bit of help for you. I would call your clinic to check what they say. Good luck with your ICSI Tracey xx

painful bowels!!!

Hi Jojo I have had the same shooting pains too and was diagnosed for 2 years with IBS and was out on a glten free diet etc, but in the end after going back and forth to the docs I was diagnosed with Endometrosis, it wasn't IBS at all. I would go back and mention it to the doctor if I were you, after 2 laps my symptoms have pretty much disappeared. Take care Tracey

Hi Dizzybird I was 36 when I started treatment at Bourn last year. On our first attempt at IVF with blasto in July 08 we got a BFP but unfortunately had a missed miscarriage at 9 weeks. I have had another fresh IVF cycle and a FET this year which have both turned out to be negative so they are going to try Clexane after ETon our next round in Oct/Nov. I will be almost 38 when we start the next IVF so fingers crossed this time will work because when you look at the statistics there is a big drop ...

Blood Thinners & IVF

Hi Ladies I had a follow up appointment with my clinic today after an unsuccessful FET this month. We discussed each of my cycles: 1. IVF/blastocyst July 08 - BFP - 2 Blasts transferred unfortunately no heartbeat (missed miscarriage) discovered at 2nd scan at 8 weeks 2. IVF/Blastocyst March 09 - BFN - 2 blasts transferred 3. FET July 09 - BFN - 1 blast from March 09 cycle The Consultant suggested that maybe we should try blood thinners after EC on the next cycle. Apparently the chance of miscarr...

Oh no Too many Progynova at once!

Hi Ladies I was told to start my progynova tablets tonight - not taken these before or had FET. I am sure the nurse from the clinic said to take 2 tablets tonight but now I have read the form it says to take 1 x 2mg tablet am and 1 x 2mg tablet pm for the first 5 days. But I have taken 2 x 2mg in one go!! Do you think I will be ok? bit worried. I know that during the next couple of weeks I will build up to 8mg per day but I am hoping that taking this much at once wont make me ill. Maybe I should...

No AF!!

Hi Ladies I'm not sure if I am posting this in the correct place but hopefully someone can give me some advice. I had a failed IVF mid March and my AF arrived about 2 days after my test day. The Clinic told me to wait until I had another 2 periods before I could have FET with our 2 blastos. Well I am still waiting for number 2 AF! its 2 weeks late now, I did a test on Mon which was negative and had slight spotting on Tues when I went to the loo (TMI!). but nothing since. On normal cycles I can b...

POST EGG COLLECTION - Discomfort and pain questions

Hiya EC really hurt me too, I apparently had some sort of sedation, which sort just put me at ease. Once they started the EC it really hurt. I had to suck on the gas too, At one point I started to giggle and go really light headed so I think I'd had too much! I had a really horrible niggly pain for about five days afterwards so used one of those neurofen heat patches as it was the middle of summer and I couldn't but a hot water bottle anywhere! ET was totally painless though. All worth it in the...
