** SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT **

Hi ladies, Just joining in on the buggy debate....I too love the look and feel of the bugaboos but unfortunately my buggy budget won't stretch that far...I've found a nice alternative from Mamas and Papas - has anyone seen their Zoom model? It's lovely and lightweight and really easy to fold - looks smart too and pretty good value for money. DH and I went to Mamas and Papas at the weekend and we had a little play around with it and have made our minds up that it's the one for us. We also agreed ...

** SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT **

Hi ladies, The sleep thing has been really difficult for me as I usually sleep on my front...this is obviously no longer possible so the next best thing would be to sleep on my back but of course now we are being told not to...so I've been sleeping on my side - apparently left side is better due to blood flow to the baby. I do occasionally wake to find myself on my back so have to move onto my side again. It's taken me a while to get used to side sleeping - at first my hips used to ache. My newe...

Morning ladies, I've called in sick this morning as I felt really rough when I got up...didn't sleep well because I had stomach acid in my throat which made me feel yucky, my sinuses were playing up which has given me a headache and I kept getting pins and needles in my hands so all in all a bad night. Went back to bed for a bit and had some brekkie so feeling a bit better....having a chilled day so hopefully I'll feel back to normal soon. BooBoo - I had lots of achy pains in my pelvic area whic...

SECOND TRI - Movements and kicks

Hi Shelley, Even now that I'm getting strong kicks and can see LO moving from the outside I still get the odd quiet day. I would say def speak to your midwife for reassurance if you can but try not to worry too much as it could be down to the position of your placenta, position of baby or perhaps baby is having a quiet lazy day. I understand the worry and was like you myself on the first quiet day but within 48 hours our LO let me know he/she was still there with the strongest kicks I'd ever fel...

Phillipa - my skin hasn't been looking great either lately! Just when we thought the days of spots were over for us and pregnancy acne hits! I'm curious to know if you're carrying a boy now you've said that....another preggers girly with spot issues is having a boy and reckons I'm having the same because of my skin complaints. He he I know I want the sex to be a surprise but still fun guessing! x

Hi ladies, Nice to see the thread getting busy again... Welcome BooBoo and congrats on being in the 2nd tri - I hope your sickness eases up soon. I remember first entering 2nd tri and wondering when if ever the sickness would pass....I think I got to about 17/18 weeks before it finally began to settle. I kept hearing about this burst of energy I was supposed to be getting and wondered if I would ever get to that point! Emz - well done for getting the nursery sorted - I can imagine my DH and I wi...

I'm one of the lucky ones too - we've had scans at 12, 16 and 20 weeks and were told whilst they wouldn't request we come back for any more we could go back at either 24 or 28 weeks if we wanted so we chose to go at 28 weeks. I doubt we'll get any more after that but I'm happy with what we've had so far (we also had early pregnancy scans too at our EPU). Our hospital doesn't offer this to everyone and did say that because we've had IVF we are entitled to more. Chilli - it's good news that they a...

Help convincing DH about immune therapy.

Hi, I didn't end up going down the full immune route but did think I would need to so told my DH that I suspected I had immune issues which I wanted to look into. I had a mc after we got our BFP following our first FET so when we were trying again we both wanted to try something different. We ended up discussing suspected immune issues with our consultant who was very good at explaining current thinking re immune issues. Whilst he didn't fully support immune treatment (he said it has yet to be p...

Hi Shelley, When I first started feeling movements it wasn't frequent so I would question myself about whether it had really happened!! Once it gets stronger and more frequent there's no doubt that it's LO wriggling about. Have fun with the doppler tonight - bet you can't wait to use it! xx

** SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT **

Hi ladies, Hope everyone is well. I've just got home from work as I went for a walk at lunchtime and ended up in pain just below my belly and couldn't face sitting in an office chair for the rest of the afternoon. It felt like stretching pains so I'm not too worried but DH wanted me to call the midwife just to be on the safe side...there's no answer so will keep trying. LO is moving around so that's comforting too. My SIL bought me a Summer heart listening gadget thingy but it wasn't very good s...

fet vs fresh cycle

I would also ask if there is anything you could do differently this time. I've had two FETs and both were BFPs but sadly the first ended in mc so I didn't want to just do the same thing again second time around (I expect I would have felt the same if I got a BFN rather than BFP then mc)...my consultant agreed to give me steroids on the 2nd go which made me feel like we'd changed the protocol slightly. Best of luck to you hun and I hope I can bring you hope that FET does work xx

SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

I've had my flu jab this morning and feeling ok so far. The nurse told me they don't inject us with the flu which is what lots of people have been telling me - she said what they inject us with is synthetic and should not cause us to have the flu - if ladies do get it its because they've been exposed to it before having the vaccine. She also said the most I should get from it is an achy arm and not to worry as this is common. I do admit I did have a bit of a panic and wondered if I was doing the...

SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

Hi ladies, I've booked mine and will be having it on Weds next week....I have to admit I wish I didn't have to have it but there are too many viruses going around at the moment and don't want to end up regretting not having it. It's a tough decision!

SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

Hi Harry and welcome to 2nd tri! Reaching 12 weeks is a big milestone so hope you can take some comfort in that hun. I too get confused about where tris begin and end and also can never get my head around which weekly updates to read!! I had my 20 week scan today, a little early at 19 weeks and 4 days but they managed to do all the checks they needed and all ok with our LO. We got some great scan pics too - two of them were face on! We're both over the moon today and feel like this is the best C...

Best pregnancy test?

I agree on First Response - great thing is you don't have to wait too long for a result...I know the digital ones are the latest tech but boy is the wait for a result a painful one...much prefer the old fashioned FR - plus BFP lines were always strongest for me on these. Best of luck testing hun x

SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

Hi ladies, Hope you're all doing well and like BG says looking forward to Christmas with a bump - I've dreamt about this for soooo long! My pains have eased and I'm feeling more or less back to normal. I had an appt with my GP yest and she wanted to send off a urine sample to rule out any infections which can also cause abdominal pain. I also had a midwife appt today and she told me if I get any more pains to call the labour ward just to be on the safe side. I'm continuing to get flutters which ...

Amniocentesis

Hi Suki, I went with my sister when she had hers and whilst she said it was uncomfortable she was not in any pain. She was told to take it easy for a week afterwards due to the small risk of miscarriage after. I hope this helps x

SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

Morning ladies, Is anyone else experiencing any pain in their abdomen? I think I'm suffering from ligament pain - I've already experienced the short sharp pains from this when getting up too quickly, squeezing out of the car or sneezing but last night I started getting a dull ache on my left side which sounds very much like liagment pain too. I'm about to have a warm shower which I hope will help relax my body and ease the pain a little. Also do you think it would be ok to use a hot water bottle...

SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

Hi Bug, We have the same due date and I too have 3 appointments next week - 1 with GP, 2nd with midwife and 3rd is my 20 week scan (on Weds). I'm now off work till the new year so going to try and enjoy the break whilst it lasts! My DH is the same - he'd like to know the sex but I would rather keep it as a surprise as this is our first baby. Lots of people are trying to convince us to find out but I really don't want to know just yet! Hope everyone is well. We've had a little snow in London toda...

SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

You will soon hun - at first it's so light that you're not even sure if you've felt it and then the more you get the more you realise it's not your imagination! I always feel it most when I've got into bed and lie flat - at first it feels like wind bubbles!
