simplelife - I must say, it was only the ET that was bad for me. Like you, everything else was great. The nurses are so nice and really know their stuff. Dr VM is also absolutely lovely, I really like her, it was only the ET that caused me such problems. I'm glad yours went well though. Good luck with your little survivor! I'm now 10 days post FET and going a little crazy!

hjp and Muniya I have had 2 ETs with Dr VM, they were both awful. The first one, I had to have gas & air to help the pain. The second one (a FET) was last week, and was even worse: they gave me Tamazepan an hour before to help me relax, but it made no difference, the pain was awful. More gas and air, and eventually we got there. I'm not sure she used any gel on the speculum, just tried to force it in. I've never been great with smear tests, but 3 IUIs were absolutely fine at Ipswich Hospital. I ...

Dr Mauro did a quick examination during my consultation, and as a result, advised me that perhaps a general anaesthetic might be better for E/C (obviously I must have been a bit twitchy!). I liked her because my bmi was about 26.5 and she said that was absolutely fine (hoorah, I hate dieting!) have you had general anaesthetic for e/c?

Billie, our first consultant appt was 8 Oct (after 1 July consultant referral). We too have been told to wait until after Christmas. DR to start early Jan, with IVF/ICSI Feb 2010. Our consultant did tell us to try for cancellations on Day 1 too. I think we'll wait until Jan 2010 though, it's much easier to plan work, life etc if you know exactly when it's going to happen.

It seems really inconsistent as to how long people wait between referral and seminar and consultant appointment. We were referred in July (from Ispwich hospital), and got a letter pretty quickly about attending seminar on 20 August. that was good, but in the same letter, it said our consultant appointment was 8 October! That seems like such a long wait especially compared with others here who have had consultant immediately after seminar. Very strange. Perhaps they look to see what recent treatm...

referred to Bourn Hall

Hi there After an eternity of tests, waiting, appointments and 3x unsuccessful IUI at Ispwich, we've finally got a date to be seen at Bourn Hall for IVF (due to unexplained). We've got seminar in August, and Consultant Appt in October. Can anyone who's done this bit already (via NHS funding), advise a bit more on timings. When will I actually get the physical ball rolling, is it after consultant appt or after seminar? The waiting game is so frustrating isn't it? I'm also still a bit clueless abo...
