Everyone here can relate to how difficult each cycle is, understand the symptom spotting and empathise with every twinge. No one can ever take away the pain but knowing there is this safe place to rant and rave, get it off your chest, just having an 'ear' can make a huge difference. Sometimes having someone be able to read whats on your mind can help put things into perspective, mountain and mole hills. Someone may be able to point out x/y/z to help or bring happiness on a dull day. Apologies as...

smihel - at the end of the day it is your choice for how many you have put back. They cannot enforce either way. We had two transferred and we thought we would have to fight to have two transferred due to my age (28 at the time) but they were ok about it. SIgned all the papers to accept liability just incase they both stuck. Confirmed at the 7wk scan both there, but at 10weeks one miscarried. Other one made it to 37 weeks before deciding it had enough 'cooking' time. Little girl healthy. Then ag...

Some clinics do give GA but Aberdeen don't. They talk you through everything beforehand sign all the paperwork and then give a premed and place a canula into your hand. If hubby is with you that is when they get into the scrubs provided. They will leave you a short while or answer any questions you may have waiting for the premed to work. Once through for EC they will use the canula to provide pain relief and top up as necessary. Just ask and they don't hesitate! Some people don't need much othe...

smihel - check google maps for various routes, but its approx. 2 miles and 35min walking or about 15-20 bus or slightly quicker in taxi, depending on time of day. Bus would be 23 (sunshine line) which would stop opposite main hospital. Pretty sure there are signposts for maternity. Cost £4.30 for an all day pass would be the cheapest option. Not sure how much it would be in a taxi. av - baseline was 30 min by the time they had done the scan and explained all the drugs. when do you have your base...

maame - I understand how you feel. it is so confusing and you don't really know which to believe. We had numerous significant heavy bleeds during pregnancy, from as early as 2 days post transfer. It is a good sign that the digi test is increasing, it kept the dream alive for us. this journey is hard enough without our bodies playing tricks on our minds! Keeping everything crossed for Friday. I guess we were lucky as we live in Aberdeen, about 10 min away from hospital. I take my hat off to all o...

Hi how is everyone doing? Nat_urally - sadly if you do not meet the criteria they put you on a waiting list until you do, then they can start the investigations. They will try to blame the weight/smoking for not being able to conceive. I too am asthmatic and have PCOS so I know how difficult it is to shift any weight. good luck to everyone on the journey. xxx

av - I know a few ladies regularly have acupuncture and it does help them have better results at collection. Do you know if there is anyone nearby who could do it? Some ladies swear by it, some just enjoy the relaxation! Each to their own. All well here thanks. Hope everyone is well. x

Hi all, Positivethoughts - I had my husband in with me for both collection and transfer. It is amazing to watch the ultrasound screen and see what the staff call a shooting star. Try not to worry too much about the progesterone levels. Some lucky ladies didn't use any and are living the dream we all crave. Kaz - I had a negative POAS the day before OTD, it literally changed overnight. Fingers crossed. chocolate - give them a call, it will be one thing off your mind on this rollercoaster journey....

chocolate - hopefully you don't have much longer to wait for AF to appear! We had a little girl, 2 wks earlier than expected on 13 July. Kaz - fingers crossed you got good news. I remember how scary it is waiting for the phonecall. Positivethoughts - hope all goes well for your transfer. its amazing how quick the time will go. Zebra - Give them a call, it will help to ease your mind. One less thing to worry about on the journey. Hope everyone is well. xxx

highlander, sorry to hear you are having a rough time with the cyclogest. I used my pessaries as normal, but its always worth double checking with the clinic on what they would prefer. Make sure you drink plenty so you don't dehydrate. Good luck for Tuesday. xxx

Hi everyone, sorry I disappeared for a long time. I had been popping in from time to time seeing how everyone is doing. highlander, where are you staying? Are there any other cheaper alternatives that could work better? Hopefully you find something that will make it easier for you. Zebra, I constantly hounded them after our first cycle was cancelled. Kept being told to wait until an appointment came through, I have no patience and kept phoning. I think in the end they got sick fed up of hearing ...

av- how are you getting on? maame - everyone is different on how they react to the drugs. Drink plenty of water as that can reduce any side effects. I had really bad migraines from norethisterone, but majority of ladies are not effected badly. As for your work, its personal choice. I worked as much as possible throughout the treatment, worked up til an hour before my collection and in the next day, whereas some ladies prefer to take a few days off for this. See how you feel closer to the time. D...

hi how is everyone getting on? AV -im from Aberdeen. There is nothing close to the hospital sadly but I could easily recommend quite a few places for nice coffees/lunches etc. It depends on what kind of food you like. Again the fun aspect depends on what you enjoy. Sorry im not being much help. Ill PM you my mobile number and feel free to contact me and I can give you lots of ideas for places. highlander - sorry to hear your EC was sore. I know the feeling. Will the unit monitor you for hyper st...

hi all, how is everyone? highlander - never be afraid to ask any questions, we have all been through it and can help! The staff at the unit should also have all the answers... or we hope so anyway! If they are rough with didlocam threaten to do the same to them, see how they like it, made them much gentler!!! At my baseline I had 25+ follies on my one ovary which made me high risk of OHSS. By the time we had finished the cycle and got to collection only 15 were aspirated, 7 eggs and 5 fertilised...

rosiewoo - hopefully you had all of your questions answered by Alison. Sadly we didn't have very good dealings with the nurses which is why we emailed the docs direct. Sickness wants to hang around, ive gotten used to it. Twistedly I think I will miss it when it goes hehehe. I wont however miss the hyper smell. Some of the things I have heard from friends who have been abroad as of yet haven't been accepted in this country. They are a lot more invasive with diagnostics to really tailor your prot...

rosiewoo - you can get a copy of your notes, but they may charge you. Don't worry you don't have to start all over again. If you take a look at the HFEA website it lists all the clinics and you can choose there. They are independent and give the stats/info for the clinics. I know a few ladies/couples go abroad for treatment as the success rates differ quite drastically. Did you get a reply to your email from the hospital? May I ask who it was you emailed. When I had to contact them I emailed Ham...

Hi, sorry to hear your news sunny. Hopefully they will do an endo scratch for your next cycle. A few other ideas to think/question hospital about... NK cells and immune testing. The other one I have heard lots of good things about is DNA fragmentation testing for the guys. Sadly I don't think this is offered on the NHS but it might be worth asking about anyway. Sorry I cant be of more help, sending lots of hugs as it is a nasty rollercoaster. Where did the delightful cosy sunshine go?! Yesterday...
