SECOND TRIMESTER CHAT ARCHIVE 1/9/09 - 1/12/09

hi girlies thanks for teh support - was rushed in for an emergency injection of antigen today (aparantly they have to give it within 72 hrs so lucky the letter telling me im rh neg arrived last night!!) they did say its only precautionary though and werent worried about bleeding before 12 weeks There seem to be plenty of us with rh neg - so much for it only being 13% of the population!! Also had a scan (private) today so saw Bubbles waving and squirming - my earlier scans were 8&9 wks so it was ...

hello ladies finally feeling ok to join 2nd tri - hi to kelly, roxy and klaudia - a few familiar faces glad to see those with MS now feeling better . I have been a bit stressed as had a little brown spotting over the weekend (had a bit 9w and all was ok) and had spoken to the midwife who reassured me nothing to worry about. However got home tonight to a letter telling me im rhesus neg and to advise any bleeding asap! have left a message for MWife as not sure if I need to worry/ do something Am h...

Donor sperm counselling

i also used DS. the counselling is compulsory I think as part of the HFEA regulations. my counselling mainly focussed on what my views were on telling the child and talking about available resources (donor conception network etc); my support network and male role models (im single) generally they were very supportive and just seemed to be checking you werent going into this on a whim! Im sure you'll be fine - good luck with Tx

message of hope

just wanted to pop back and wish all you ladies well i had a rubbish AMH and was started on max drugs for my IVF but barely responded and after 16 days stims only managed 3 folies (+ 2 cysts) and 1 of those they originally thought was another cyst. I was worried they were going to give up on me but they collected 2 eggs and 1 fertilised. today i had ny 8 week scan! Just remember it only takes 1 and once you have that 1 its a level playing field with all those girls who have tons of eggs/ follies...

** POOR RESPONSE CHAT **

lottie i had poor amh and only 3 follies (+2 cysts!) after 16 days stimming at 450 fostimon but they got 2 eggs 1 fertilised now 6 weeks pregnant eventhough the meds didnt do much the ivf was worth it to me to know it had fertilised - the iui just feels like shooting in the dark. I think sometimes the clinics dont want to waste our money (i was private funding) just remember if you get 1 or 2 embies you are back on a level playing field with all those people with loads of eggs as they only norma...

worried

lynda just to reiterate what the others have said - it only takes 1. i was in a very similar position to you (only 3 follies and 2 eggs only 1 fertilised etc..) remember though most people only have 1 max 2 (in uk) embies put back in so from that point on you are on a level playing field with anyone evern if they had loads of eggs. your lining seems good and its quality not quantity all the best

Will 45 be too late for me?

Diane you may want to ask your gp to run an AMH test - another blood test can be done on any day of teh cycle i think. It gives a measure of ovarian reserve though you can still have good eggs in a low reserve and it only takes one. best of luck

Work & Clinic response

lynda try discussing with your gp regarding time off. i have been having tx for +12 months and only recently told my manager at work. my gp has always been supportive and offered to sign me off as recognises the impact of stress when going through Tx. This is the first time I have taken her up on it aand i have a sicknote for 2 weeks (she asked me how long i felt i needed - this covered EC ET and the first week of the 2ww- i have takens holiday for teh 2nd week) The sicknote is not specific and ...

1st IVF - poor response on day 5 (short protocol)

am feeling a bit shellshocked as have been told by the clinic that my blood work shows oestrogen only at 300 and they would hope for 1000. they are going to test again on Tues (D8) and scan - my clinic doesnt seem to scan as often as others as they never scanned with iui am already on the max dose of Fostimon for stims as they started high due to age and poor amh so am now starting to panic as there is no where to go from here this is my first Ivf and im doing it all on my own so any good news s...

Clearblue fertility monitor

i use one alongside the "clinic approved" OPK with a smilie face. The clear blue monitor seems to generally be more sensitive as sometimes it picks up my peak fertility first thing when the other kit doesnt but this alerts me to test later in the day. It takes a while to find your patterns and sometimes I go straight from "low" to "peak" and sometimes i have a couple of days at medium first. I think standard OPks just pick up LH (which has thesignficant surge prior to ovulation) while the clearb...

** IUI CHITTER CHATTER MAY/JUNE 2009**

Hi girls Hope eveyone doing Ok - i took a break fromthe boards as I was a bit cut up over the last BFN (major issues with "support" from my family!!) I have been trying to catch up with the posts but there are sooooo many. Going for another round of IUI tomorrow and I think it will be my last - hopefully for the right reason (BFP) but otherwise Im moving up to IVF. Been doing loads of visualisation/hypnotherapy tapes - has anyone else trued these and found them useful?? Good luck to all on 2WW a...

How long will I have to wait for donor sperm?

hi Im at Manchester Fertility services and there was no waiting list for sperm and you normally are offered choice of 2 donor (anon but hair, eye skin colur and height) I am private patient but dont think that should make adifference as they dont pay donors. I am looking at Care Manchester if I have to go to IVF as its sucess rates seem better than MFS. Hope this helps - all the best and good luck
