Gay couple seeking another gay couple that have successfully completed surrogacy for advice

Hi there, I'm not in a gay relationship, so unfortunately can't directly help, but we used to read this blog when we were going through the process. Our journey through adoption and have you seen this link on The Adoption Social? LGBT Fostering and Adoption Week – Round Up | As a helpful pointer in the right direction we were put in contact with people through our social worker and the best place to meet people had been the adoption courses. Good luck. x

Adoption...and looking for all info possible

Hi Billie, I'm in a very similar situation to you. I am not so worried that I'll never have a child, just that I'll never have a family! I differ slightly in that my DH could face another session, so we've stop tx, even though we had 1 more. The anxiety and pain just was just too much. I'm in Essex near the Suffolk border and called in information from Colchester (barnardos) and Chelmsford. We're off to the first session - Information session in Chelmo tonight!!!! I'll update my diary if you wan...

A new year, a new journey, a new approach, an old hope......... a family?

Hi guys, Thank you for your support. Sorry for the long gap - I feel a bit rude not responding quickly, but I've been mental at work recently (a whole other stress story) and haven't been able to log in properly. Demi - I hope that you're feeling better. I'd love to have an adoption buddy. I'm hoping to go to the LA info session on the 8th March. There is a Barnardos one around the same time too. Not sure whether to go to both or not. I was a bit put off by their information pack. I really want ...

A new year, a new journey, a new approach, an old hope......... a family?

Well it's been a long time since I posted on FZ, and a first time in the adoption section. DH & I had a talk last week and have decided that with the dawning of 2011 we'll put 2010 and the previous 6 yrs of heart ache and losses behind and start afresh. So we've decided to start looking into adoption. It hasn't been an easy decision. The IVF process was tough and we're very worried about how tough the adoption process is going to be. It would be so lovely if someone would just give us a 'break' ...

RE: Anaesthetics & ET

Hi there, I was in loads of pain with my last ET and they've offered me a sedative (not a General) for the next one. My pain was from my endo, not a clamp - which sounds very uncomfortable! I was worried about the drugs, since we're bombarded in life about nature being best. But I'm definately going to take them up on the offer. My consultant was worried last time that I was so tense they might not be able to continue. I'm hoping that being relaxed will be far more beneficial, than me being real...

Lap, Hysteroscopy and Dye - all in one day

Hi Pickles, I had an investigative lap a few yrs ago (when they found out I had Endo), I was completely unprepared and thought I'd be back at work the next day - Doh!! I was a little sore the next day and scared about bursting my stitches. Honestly you should have seen my face when I realised I was about to do the biggest sneeze! Sheer panic!! I'm laughing now though - cos it was fine!!! .....and everyone's right they do give you the best drugs. I took about 4 days before I got back to work. The...

Am I being unrealistic?

HiPushoz, I'm in Essex and we were refered to Barts for our NHS funded go. We were told 2 yrs too, but I think that is a National statistic. In the postcode lottery that is IVf I think that those of us with London referals have it a little better. Like Anita, I had about a 6 month wait from referal to start date. The hospital should be able to tell you what their current average waiting time is. The Essex consultant told us to ring Barts first to check and if we wanted to be refered to one of th...

Is it worth trying again? Disappointed at treatment received.

Hi Didik, I'm sorry to hear about your treatment. My Dh & I have been through similar experiences. For the first 2 yrs of fertility investigation we'd see a diferent Dr every time we visitied the clinic. Most times they hadn't bothered to read my notes!!! When I told one Dr I had 1 tube, he brushed it aside and told me it was unlikely. Considering they'd found it out in my Lap done at their hospital (Basildon) and even had photos in my notes it was a ridiculous and ignorant thing to say. We're j...

Single embryo transfer & BFP

Good luck ladies. I'll be thinking of you on your test days! I've got my first appointment with Barts today about our FET (ET July, provided it defrosts ok). Last FET was a natural cycle, but not sure if thay'll recommend drugs this time. Am quite nervous! Jo, I can't quite remember the exact details but I think I: D/R for about 2.5 wks - Buserelin injections Stims - 11 days - Puregon + Buserelin injections I was lucky and didn't have any side effects - over normal mood swings! I didn't like the...
