ARGC

Hello everyone, Hope you’re all well. We had our first consultation today. We feel very positive by the whole experience. In our first fresh ivf cycle at Oxford I got over 30 follicles, and had to coast for a while and only got 10 eggs and then only 4 embryos. The doctor we saw at the ARGC today said that the close monitoring they do will mean I shouldn’t over stimulate and we will get a better result. As we’ve had just one failed fresh tx and one failed FET, he said that I did not necessarily n...

Hi Mags, Thanks for your reply. I will ask about PCOS/ovualtion tests when I go to the consultation next week. I am hoping they will say I don't have to use them as I can imagine getting frustrated waiting for a positive result. But if I do have to use them I'll get some clearblue digital - thanks for the tip! Good Luck with your downregging. Keep us posted as to how you're getting on. Best wishes. Jan

Hi Angie, Thanks for your reply. I just wondered - I have heard that on the monitoring cycle you have to do OPK tests at home and wait for the surge and then have a progesterone blood test to see if you ovualted. The trouble is I have PCOS and quite long cycles (40 days) and I'm not sure if OPKs would work for me. Hope this makes sense! Do you know anything about it? Good luck with your treatment. Jan x

Hi, I recently had FET at Oxford Fertility Unit, which resulted in a chemical pregnancy. A few months ago I posted on here asking about whether I should move from Oxford to the ARGC. I had some really helpful responses. So we decided that if our FET failed we would move to the ARGC. We have our initial consultation at the ARGC next Tuesday 20th May. Does anyone have any tips for the initial consulatation? Thanks. Jan

Hi, Thanks everyone for your advice. I eventually spoke to a nurse from Oxford today (after getting an answerphone message several times) to change my April cycle from fresh to frozen. She admitted that they had made mistakes on my prescription and schedule. I then rang the ARGC and got through to someone first time! She was v friendly and is going to send out an info pack. She said that as I'm a teacher then I can request the initial appointment for during the Easter holiday, which is helpful. ...

Hi Cathie, Thanks for your reply. So if you don't know what drugs you will be taking from day to day, then how do you know which drugs to buy? Or do you buy them from the ARGC on a daily basis? Are you staying in a hotel at the moment? Good Luck with everything. When are expecting to have ec? I think DH and I have decided we will be a FET at Oxford in April and apply for the ARGC at the same time for a cycle in the summer. It is a big decision though. When did you first apply to the ARGC? I'm ju...

Oxford or ARGC? FET? PLEASE Help!

Hi Limpet, Thanks for your reply. We are still undecided as to what to do. When we had our follow up consultation with Tim Child he said that next time I would have a lower dose of gonal-f. So I was quite surprised when the schedule came through and they have me on 150 iu for 9 days and no ultrasound booked until the 9th day. I will ring them tomorrow to find out whats happened. Thanks. Confused! Should I change to the ARGC? PLEASE Help!

Hi, Last November we had our 1st ICSI at JR, Oxford, which resulted in a BFN. I have PCOS (and DH has male factor) and after stimms I had about 50 follicles, but only ended up with 10 eggs. I had to 'coast' for a couple of days to avoid OHSS. Out of those 10 eggs, 4 fertilised. The best 2 were transferred, and the other 2 have been frozen. I am about to start another fresh cycle, but when I got my schedule through, the clinic are doing exactly the same as they did before, ie 150 iu of gonal f. S...
