Parenting Chat

Hi all, Can I join your gang please? I have not been on here much since my world went upside down with the birth of my twinkle. Yup - thought I was prepared - was I heck!!!! Still she is 1 now and thinking that it is time I tried to get my life back to normal. Sasha - Twinkle has never liked being fed with a spoon so we are baby led weaners all the way and it is wicked! She turned 1 the other week and is already trying so hard to use a fork herself so I am chuffed the mess was worth it. Not much...

What teat size for Dr Browns bottles & Comfort milk?

Hi, I used No2 size teats with my daugher using Aptilmal comfort if that helps at all. I then had to change milk though to prescription with added infact gaviscon for colic and then had to go up to size 3 teats from about 2 months of age.

** TRYING AGAIN CHATTER **

Well, long time no chatter for me! I have finally got 5 mins to have a little mooch about and feel brave enough to come out and say that I want to fall pg with no 2 now. I really really really do! Which is super odd considering the situation that I was in when having my little twinkle. Still, time heals and now she is the ripe ol' age of 1 I want a sibling. Now that this admission is out in the open I am going off to have a mooch about and hopefully catch up with some old names and stories. x

Thanks hun! We have held off at the moment and at the moment Hannah just seems cross whereever she is so I am darned that I am spending £100 on her to be cross in something else. The only time she appears to be content is if we are out walking but only if she is not hungry or thinking about being hungry. So pretty much we have an hour window of potential content babydom. x

Evening all, Just love reading through all these posts as it gives me hope that these rough early weeks will get better soon! Tell me, HOW have you all managed to get your LO's to sleep all night and when did this start? Seriously I would be really grateful if you could let me know what sort of amounts of formula and feeding times you doing. I know it is different as Hannah is only 5 weeks nearly but I seems to be having 3-4oz every 3- 3 1/2 hours regardless of the time of day. Can I get her to ...

4-5 hours flic! - wow what I wouldn't give for that. H is going 3 hours between feeds but that is from when the feed starts so also includes all the burping and holding upright bit so she does not sick as much stage so the actual sleep bit is really only about 1 1/2 hours which includes the night time as well. She does appear to be more settled today though after the osteopath visit so fingers crossed something good comes of that. Someone recommended to me today about getting a swing seat thingy...

Hello again and thank you for the warm welcome. It has been great to read all you guys saying about how your little ones are sleeping and have reduced the colic etc. That makes me feel better even knowing that there is light at the end of the tunnel. We went to an osteopath with Hannah and she screamed and screamed all the way through the appointment. They thought though that a couple of sessions could help ease discomfort and there is even a deal of only £5 per session until they are 1 which is...

Expressing - worried about yield....

thanks hun, Things are not going at all well with the BF and my supply is propper low now. I can manage to express one bottle worth a day which is naff and I am gutted to be honest as I really wanted to bf for 6 months but with the difficult start etc it was just not to be. I was starting to beat myself up as well with the yield thing but yesterday and today so far we have had good days and I have felt that I am actually enjoying being her mum as I have not focussed on what I am feeding her and ...

Parenting Chat

Hi all, My first post here on parenting chat which is all very exciting! Hannah is now 3 weeks old and in one way I can't believe where the time has gone but in another way it feels like she has been here forever! Next wednesday is her due date so she has nearly reached term. We are having some problems though with feeding. I am expressing (not very sucessfully at the moment) and also formula feeding but think that she suffers with colic. We are going to the Dr's tomorrow to find out as not sure...

Expressing - worried about yield....

thanks everyone for the information. things are still not going too well. I have tried putting her to me everyday and although she looks like she is feeding (after an initial fight to get to to latch on) about 1/2 after she has come off herself she gets all wild child and demands food again. This is where I get worried and scared that I am not feeding her well enough and I know it is more my frustration than hers, put give her a bottle of breast milk. She is then so hungry that she gulps it down...

Expressing - worried about yield....

Hi all, Really quick post but I am looking for help in increasing my milk supply. Basics so far (as I have not even got around to putting on my birth story yet) is that my little Twinkle, Hannah, came early at 36 weeks in a very tramatic style. I could not feed her straight away and actually didn't hold her properly until 7 hours or so after the birth and then it was only for a moment. Breast feeding tried to be started during the first evening of her life but I was too poorly and it did not hap...

THIRD TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

hey all, Had a nice relaxing day at work today again and the sun is out which always makes life just that little bit nicer doesn't it. Roxy - of course we will forgive you! Sandy - totally agree with what you say. My last day is the 31st too and wishing that time would fly but equally I know that I will be pleased to have the time once the baby is here though. Torr - Chuffed that they have let you out of the hospital hun. You really must have been frustrated being caged up in there, especially w...

THIRD TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

Hi all, Yet again I am going to have to start this post with an apology about not being around - the past week or so has been so very eventful. Dh's uncle and an uncle of mine passed away so we have been dealing with family stuff also I have not been that well. Went to the midwife and I have protein in my wee and swelling and a slight headache but my bp is good. The midwife went into fuss mode and sent me straight to the hospital where I had to have monitoring, blood tests and more wee tests. An...

** SCANS - QUESTIONS AND CHAT **

Yup you get pics but you might that to pay for them. My hospital charges £5 for two different pics of the bubba. My tip though is to let them know when they are doing the scan that you want pics otherwide they do them at the end when the bubba has got the hump and won't look at you anymore and you end up with an alien picture that you adore but everyone else looks at with a puzzled face x

THIRD TRIMESTER CHAT - 2010

Morning all, Jess - hearing you with the spots hun. In chinesse medicine the mouth area represents hormonal changes though so I guess it is to be expected. Had a cracking one in the week but thankfully that volcano has now gone down a bit. They have only started in the last 2 weeks though so maybe it is just this stage and will disappear again soon. JVA - Sleeping - remind me, what is that again? Leg cramps are meant to get better if you eat a banana before bed (according to the preg mags etc) I...
