Male Factor Infertility - varicocele??

A bit late seeing this thread but thought i would answer anyway. A friend was told the same re her hubbies variocele and was due to start IVF. However the variocele was causing her hubbie pain so they operated on it before the IVF started...a few months later she was pregnant naturally with twins and 18mths after that pregnant again..

stopping progesterone

Congratulations on your BFP I'd double check with the clinic if you are worried. Are they doing bloods to check your progesterone as you progress?

Advice please. Cancelled IVF. Poor responder, Clinic tomorrow.

Hi, please don't give up hope. I too am a poor responder to drugs, one cancelled NHS cycle and one with only 1 follicle. We've gone to the ARGC in London where they found I have immune issues and on the first cycle got 3 eggs, although only one was normal and it fertilised abnormally, however, I'm on the 2ww of my 2nd cycle and we got 4 good eggs of which 3 have fertilised and been transfered back. I'm 41, my DH is 49. My FSH this cycle was 10.2 and my AMH a year ago was 3ish. I think for unexpl...

ARGC

For those about to start at ARGC someones just told me that Bliss Pharmacy give a 20% discount to ARGC'ers. Haven't actually been there myself so can't vouch for info but it's not far from ARGC.

Clinic Advice ARGC London:

I second what everyone else has said, it is an intense ride at the ARGC but generally the staff are pleasant and will try and help you. It is VERY busy especially at weekends and bottom line is they are only interested in getting you pregnant not in holding your hand or mollycoddling you through the cycle. I'm a poor responder and they managed to get me to produce 3 eggs so I was happy enough even though it didn't end well. If you are a strong person and you sound like you are then I can't see y...

Moving from Somerset to The Vale of Glamorgan

It is very draining dealing with Drs who aren't helpful, your body is already so drained from dealing with your own emotions that having to deal with other peoples becomes almost impossible at times. Have you had level 1 tests done by your Dr yet? Search the forum someone has put a list up somewhere. There are level 1 and level 2 (chicago) tests. The level 1 tests you can usually get your GP to do, tests for clotting, reumatoid factor to name but a couple. It is wrong for your Dr to say you just...

Moving from Somerset to The Vale of Glamorgan

In Swansea they are private in an NHS hospital but with a clause in their "tenancy" there that says they will see xxx number of NHS patients. Although I found them lovely the treatment was to the book with no leeway. As I was finishing my 2nd (unsuccessful) IVF with them there were rumours that the NHS contract with them was finishing and that they would be purely private. I have no idea whether those rumours have manifested into fact or not. I'd seriously go to your GP (or another one) and say ...

Moving from Somerset to The Vale of Glamorgan

Hi, I'm a little further west than you but 6mths is very good for Wales, it's normally way over a year. 6mths is what they call "fast-track" here once you accepted for IVF. Don't know about Princes of Wales I was referred to LWC in Swansea. I'd suggest asking for a different Dr at your local GP or swapping practice to someone more understanding. I hate to say it but I've had to fight to get the treatment I needed.

geting nowere fast!!!!

I think I'd be asking to see the Dr, not one of the nursing team. While the nurses are fab, only a Dr can make the decision on whether your treatment goes ahead or not.. You did mention above that you had 7 follicles on either side before a/f arrived? I was told on one of IVF's that they didn't like there to be follicles there before they started stimming, but that could be wrong......... I didn't have much luck at that clinic!

Clexane injections

They do sting a bit, I pinched a nice big wedge of belly and injected in the middle of the pinch, stung a little afterwards for about 10 - 15mins then all ok. I did find it hurt less if I did it further away from the belly button, closer to the side of my body.
