refused ivf because of very low amh

Don't give up! Firstly, I'm so sorry about the way you were treated. I've had very similar coldness from a lot of medical staff throughout this process and don't feel people should be permitted to work in this industry without training on how to deal with people. I was shown to have low AMH (4.9 - 'maximum stimulation required') and went for IVF in Denmark over Christmas. I was slightly concerned as the doctor there put me on a low dose of meds (150 iu). Everything was fine. I produced seven goo...

Copenhagen Fertility Centre?

Just wanted to say that I'm now back from my treatment. Everything went swimmingly and I was so impressed with the clinic and staff - lovely, friendly people who put me at my ease.

Prejudice?

Thank you, Constance. I've just lodged it. I'm sure nothing will be done, as I'll not be able to prove a telephone conversation, but I am glad to have reported it. I am going to fight for funding despite being told that it is futile.

Prejudice?

Thank you for your responses. I spoke to the HFEA today who agreed that the comment was unacceptable and advised me to lodge a complaint through their website, which I am putting together now. It makes me so furious to think that a handful of 'professionals' are paying God and dictating who can and cannot have children

Prejudice?

Hello I hope you don't mind but I have a bit of an odd question. I recently (finally) got hold of the person in charge of IVF funding for my borough. As a single women I am struggling to pay for the IVF treatment I need and was tying to find out who to write to in order to appeal for funding. I was told that I didn't have a hope in hell and that they only funded couples. When I expressed my outrage, the man (who I'll not name) said: "Well, if we fund you, what's to stop a gay man asking us to fu...

Copenhagen Fertility Centre?

Hello, I've recently decided to rush straight to IVF, as I found out I have a low ovarian reserve (AMH 4.9). I've selected Copenhagen Fertility Clinic as they seem reasonably priced and are the only place I've found that are open over Christmas, when I need the egg collection/transfer. Dr Lindenberg seems nice and I have been impressed with them do far. Does anyone have any experience with this clinic? L

Tests and scans before treatment abroad

I'm having IVF in Copenhagen over Christmas. I'm intending to get my scan done at The Birth Company (£120 for the scan and they will email me the results). You are entitled to get certain tests (like blood tests, FSH, HSG) done through your GP and a referral to an Assisted Conception Unit at a hospital, but from my experience, the wait is long and frustrating.

IVF is less expensive here

I am also considering this route because, as a single woman, I simply can't afford IVF in the UK. I'd appreciate any details about the Indian clinic.

Has anyone found a clinic in any country at which IVF including medication cost less than £2,500 - £3,000?

Thank you, ladies. Sorry for the delay in my reply. I had a few weeks with my parents abroad, which had done a lot to ease stress. Thank you, Sunnybee and rb. I will investigate the costs of those clinics and make sure that they will allow me to use donor sperm from my choice of sperm bank. Thank you, Scarlett, and congratulations on your happy news. I am due to have three lots of IUI and a few home inseminations in the coming months and plan to begin IVF in July if I am unsuccessful. I agree th...

Has anyone found a clinic in any country at which IVF including medication cost less than £2,500 - £3,000?

Hi Red, Yes, that is including the sperm (which I am intending to order from Cryos). I know that a child is priceless and I will spend what I have to, but it angers me that money is being taken away from the child before he or she is even born. Hi Gracie, I wasn't familiar with embryo adoption but it sounds an interesting route. Having a biological child is of utmost importance to me but I would consider other avenues in a few years if all my attempts fail. I will have a look at Serum and some o...

please sign this petition to end the postcode lottery

I've signed but I have a question. There were a number of similar IVF-related petitions on the site. I understand that a petition needs 100,000 signatures before it will be reviewed. Do they take into consideration the fact that two different sets of voters want the same thing and pool the numbers?

Need help comforting my husband please help

Hello Willow, I'm sorry that you and he are going through this. It's very natural, on seeing someone we love in distress, to want to 'fix' the problem, but sometimes that is out of our hands. What we can do is just to be there and give him love and support, which I am sure you're doing. Keep reassuring him and reminding him of how much you love him. Be his 'rock' x

Thank you, Redwillow. King's is actually my clinic, but they've quoted me around £4,500 for IVF - more than I can afford - so I was considering going abroad.

Comparing costs of UK clinics

Thank you, Newly wed. That's a little more reassuring. I'm starting to 'shop around' as much as I can to find a way of doing it that I can afford.

Has anyone found a clinic in any country at which IVF including medication cost less than £2,500 - £3,000?

I'm going straight for the jugular. As a single 37 year-old woman, financially crippled by divorce and on a modest salary, cost is the most important factor in the IVF treatment I may need shortly. Having a baby means everything to me and I am prepared to travel anywhere in the world to find IVF that I can afford, given that (at my age) I may need three to five or more cycles. Has anyone found a reasonably priced clinic that they could recommend? Thank you L

Comparing costs of UK clinics

Thank you, Sasha. Could I ask an ignorant question please? I keep hearing about medication being a separate charge (almost always around £1,000). What medication is needed? Is this for additional stimulation or necessary things like anesthetic?

New to the forum and just starting to try to conceive as a single woman

Thank you for the welcome and advice. Nice to meet you all too. This is such an emotionally draining process and it is so wonderful to have a source of support. I will have a look through the recommended forums. L x

Comparing costs of UK clinics

Yes, there is an endless stream of hidden extras that they seem to add on, but it's useful to have a base price on which to glean an indication of who is overcharging. I'm praying I don't need IVF, as I can't afford it and can't get help, but would look at going abroad if it proves necessary.
