Chance of having to use donor sperm

We consider our donor as a friend and not just a donor. We met him again in January and took Scarlett with us as I didn't want to just take the 'goods' as it were and run! His other 2 babies he hasn't and probably will never see and day to day contact with the ladies is almost none existant. I've never felt comfortable with a relationship like that. He helped us out more than he can imagine in giving us our precious daughter. I asked DH if he wanted to meet up with Scarlett and he agreed. The me...

Chance of having to use donor sperm

We used donor sperm s my DH was diagnosed with Azoospermia in Dec 05. The road has been hard and long and very stressful! Initially he didn't want to know but eventually after a lot of talking and discussion he agreed that this was the only way we could have a baby. We had counselling with CARE in Manchester first before any thing else. They had to make sure that we knew what we were doing and fully understood all the implications this brought. We had 3 private goes at DIUI all which sadly ended...

What a traumatic night!

Last night we fed Scarlett as usual at 6 and she never settled after that. She screamed and screamed which is so unusual for her as she normally only protests when she is having her clothes and nappy changed. She seemed in so much pain I called NHS direct and told them the problem. They asked a load of questions and then called me back. She seemed to have settled down a bit so nothing further was needed. Then she started again so I called the emergency doc. In the meanwhile we decided to go to A...

She's home!!

She's home! Our lil Princess Scarlett is home! I brought her home yesterday afternoon as she has had all bottles from Friday at 2 am! She is one greedy guts and almost turns herself inside out sucking! Plus she dribbles like mad but its going down so that's the main thing. She doesn't wake for a feed we have to wake her! She just nuzzles and squeaks but doesnt actually cry! I stayed at the hospital Sunday night with her and boy did she lead me a merry dance! She was awake from 10 till 1:45 screa...

My first post on the third Tri board!

WOW! Its only seems a little while ago when I was saying I'd got our BFP on Easter Saturday! and here I am with 9 weeks and one day to go. It's been a funny ol week with me being in hospital Tuesday morning for 4 hours and then back in agaoin Thursday for 3 due to high blood pressure. They've increased my meds so hopefully when I go back in on Monday my BP will have lowered. I'm sure I've white coat syndrome as its always been a lot lower at the GP's! The last thing I want is for the Cons to adm...

Latest scan and news

Well, I had my monthly scan on Tuesday and all is well! I asked the lady that if she could see any bits or bobs not to tell and I’m 100% she saw something as she turned the screen and wouldn’t let me see. When nothing was showing she let me look and I saw the head and right eye. After that I saw the Consultant’s understudy, had BP done, pee test and got the results of the Glucose test I had on Friday which was clear. He said after my next scan on 7 October will be when we need to decide how and ...

anyone used a known sperm donor?

Hi Lindsay Not sure if you mean me Mrs Smiff but we used a known donor. We had 3 private attempts at DIUI but the cost and disappoinment was a killer. After much thought and research we found a lovely donor (well he found us actually) and after 5 cycles we got pg in March. We are in constant touch and speak almost every day and text daily. My DH has yet to meet him but this will be rectified soon. He didn't want to meet him initially as he was still getting his head round the whole 'needing a do...

Latest MW appointment

Well, I was at the hospital today and had another scan and am pleased to say that Bubba has turned and is no longer breech. He/she is growing fine and there are no problems. I saw the consultant who was ok and wanted me to have another scan in 4 weeks which I'm booked in for anyway. I was annnoyed as they said due to my age they need monthly growth scans! I don't remember reading anywhere that once you hit 40 your baby doesn't grow!! My baby is growing fab tyvm! I've no pix as Bubba was facing t...

Has anyone Used donor sperm

We used donor sperm due to DH having no swimmers We waited 4 months with CARE Manchester for the sperm to arrive from the US. After our BFN we went to Manchester Fertility Services and they have a good stock of sperm as they didn't seem concerned re the blood group type as CARE did. After 2 further BFN we opted for the private donor route due to lack of £ amongst other things. Not everyones cup of tea but it worked for us. Good luck Susie x

Anyone over 38 and trying for their first??

I was 18 days off being (41) when I conceived for the very first time. We started TTC in May 2005 when I was 38, discovered DH problems in Dec 2005, had our first DIUI in Oct 2006, then 2 more goes in March and May 2007. We took 5 goes with our lovely donor then got our jackpot in March this year. The road has not been easy, but age is just a number! Good luck to all and masses of Susie x

My head is melting!

The time has come to source some childcare out for Bubba when I return to work in April. I can’t book a child place in nursery till I can sort out what tax credits I’ll get if I drop to 3 days a week. This I can’t do as I can’t go more than 3 months ahead for this year based on DH’s and my salary from 2007/8. My salary will obviously change come November when I start my Mat leave. I’ve had to hypothetically pretend Bubba is due on 30 August, pretend I already work 3 days and the salary to go wit...

Our 20 week scan

All went fab apart from Bubba being breech! We had a heck of a time scanning all the organs etc and he/she simply didn't want to play! We went for a wander and a coffee to try and make him/her turn but to no avail! The sonographer got all she wanted and all organs brain spine etc are spot on. The growth is smack bang in the middle of the chart so no worries there! I've another scan in 4 weeks so let's hope Bubba is playing then! I've no scan pix as they were rubbish tbh. Susie x
