newborn who won't sleep in moses basket

I had the same problem and after a recommendation, bought the Sleepyhead cushion from John Lewis. It changed our lives! My son is now just about 6 months old and I have only just taken the edging out of the cushion to put around him as he still loves being cosy with a cocoon around his head. Take a look online, and even if you don't buy it, try rolling up blankets in the same way, it just makes them feel enclosed and secure xxx

Hi girls Just to let you know our beautiful boy Sebastian James was born on Thurs night after a very quick labour (4.5 hrs). Can't say quick = nice but hey he's he now and is perfect and that's all that matters! We are over the moon, and hoping to go home from hospital today to start normal life. Good luck to all those having their babies soon, and hang in there for the rest of you. It's all so worth it! Jewels x

hi Girls PR - good luck with your injections. They're for a great cause. Berecka, I think starting leave when you're home would be better for DH, that's when he'll really be able to help you. But maybe he could take a day's leave or so when you have the baby, and be flexible with visiting hours etc? Or if his job isn't like that, then maybe starting earlier is a good idea, as I'm sure he's not going to want to not see you and his newborn baby often in the days after she is born. Chocolate... Hmm...

Still no news from me. Had my MW appt today and he's engaged but my cervix is only 1 cm dilated so it's going to be a while... Gave in and had a stretch and sweep in the hope it will move things along. Bit gross, but needs must. I'll go for another one on Fri if nothing's happened by then. I have tried everything else under the sun, reflexology, sex, curry, raspberry leaf capsules, primrose oil, bouncing on the birthing ball... so I'm guessing our LO is just happy and comfy where he is. MUST try...

Welcome Berecka! So glad to see you on here. Must mean it's time for us to come off Our trust lets you go over 2 weeks, so I've got a 41 week appt booked with the MW and they'll give me a date for induction then. I asked my last consultant about the IVF and going over due date thing and she didn't know anything about it. So they don't seem to have any clear guidelines one way or another, it just seems to follow local hospital / trust rules. Which is daft! It would be nice if they did some resear...

Oh shame girls, hang in there! They will be worth the wait. I tried a bath with clary sage essential oil (meant to strengthen labour) tonight and had to get out as Speckle went ballistic! I think he got agitated, I've never had any movement like it, it was quite distressing! Might work for you guys though who are further along. Good for sniffing during labour apparently. You can get it at Boots... Good luck girls and WAngel I hope you get a very special anniversary present! J x

Great news on your scan dusky! Pity the measuring ahead doesn't seem to correlate with them coming early! Mine was always at least 2 weeks ahead, so I thought he would arrive early too, but sadly no such luck! I guess he'll just be a big boy when he does come! Welcome to the 3rd trimester other girls! Taffy, I'm waiting with bated breath!! J xxx

Happy due date Taffycaz! Hope your LO doesn't take too long to arrive now. Esp now that your house is sparkling and ready - hmmn, isn;t the urge to clean a sign of impending labour? Hope, yip I always fall asleep to my rainbow relaxation CD! I don't think I've ever heard it the whole way through! Must try and do it when I'm not tired one day so I know what it's saying. But if you fall asleep, you're relaxed so that's a good thing either way! Whiteangel, I will also miss the movements, but also c...

Hope the original hypnobirthing lady / author is MArie Mongan, so look for her, but I'm sure anything you get online will help. It's all about the breathing and staying calm. Taffycaz did it all online herself, so she's a good source of info, whereas I did the classes and have the book so I'm not sure what's available online. Good luck! x

Hope, try keeping a log of her movements and seeing if she really isn't moving about as much once you're keeping note. And if you are at all worried get checked out, there's no harm in feeling like a twit once you know your baby's fine (Speaking from experience here!). I'm sure it's just fine, and she's getting into position. Try having a bath, sometimes they move more during a bath. And don't worry - I'm a worrier too!! xxx

Whiteangel, the evening primrose capsules are also to soften the cervix. You prick / cut the capsule and insert the capsule you know where... i guess while you're lying down just before bed! I think all these things do the same thing really... let's hope they bloody work! I'm only starting the capsules tonight. I also think it's all confusing, my RL tablets are 2 a day, so maybe each dose is different. Taffy, I'm following the instructions from my hypnobirthing book, so I hope i'm doing it right...

Oh dear girls why won't these little princes and princess arrive?! We all sound sore and a little fed up. I am also sore now, esp when I change position, sitting to standing or the other way round etc. My pelvis hurts so badly and I hardly slept last night. Not great as you say Whiteangel when you're trying to store up sleep! Also started raspberry leaf capsules yesterday and bought some evening primrose capsules too, anything to start things off. I am also doing perineal massage as well in an e...

Yeah our hospital told us a bath will slow down pain if it's not proper labour. And you need contractions to be regular for at least 1.5 hrs and 4-5mins apart before it's real labour, and time to go to hospital Hope your bath stops it all xxx

I think you insert Hope, and then the gelatin dissolves, much like the bullets of before... Need to buy some of both I reckon. Taffycaz, good luck for the next few days hon! Wow I can't believe it's so close already. Will be looking out for your news, and crossing fingers that everything goes really well. xxx

Welcome Dusky!! Whiteangel, I also have the sore knuckles, very weird. But I know other girls who do too, it's that bloody relaxin hormone relaxing every single flipping joint! I think don't over-read too much - your antenatal classes will be the most up to date, and you will always find conflicting advice, so at least go with what you know. Too much knowledge can just be confusing. You'll work out your own way of doing things once he arrives anyway. Good luck hanging around the shops... problem...
