Clinics in Cyprus

I was considering Cyprus because they will transfer up to 4 embryos. Do you know what is the situation in Czech republic or Spain? Which clinics did you use? I have bad quality eggs due to PCOS and am also 37 so it would be helpful to be able to transfer more than 2 embryos if there were enough. (Actually, in 5 attempts I never had more than 3 and that was only once.) The law here in Italy is not favourable to my situation, which is a shame because it is so much cheaper.

Clinics in Cyprus

Has anyone done IVF in Cyprus and been happy with the clinic they used? I have initially been in touch with Dogus in north Cyprus but have seen bad (scary!) reviews on this forum and elsewhere so I'm looking for somewhere more reputable.

Progesterone or the Pill to induce period before IVF?

Thanks for the reply Jenny Progesterone works in the same way as the pill for bringing on a cycle. I have always taken progesterone in the past to bring on the cycle and we are going with a different clinic this time but they just kind of wnt along with what we have always done (we have done 4 cycles and had one baby.) The gynaecologist said to me "You're taking progesterone? I would have thought the pill would be more suitable for you but I'm not your doctor..."

Progesterone or the Pill to induce period before IVF?

I have PCOS and need to induce a period before doing an IVF cycle. I have previously used progesterone to induce a period in the past, taking it for 10 days or so, then starting bleeding a few days later. I recently went to a gynaecologist about a matter unrelated to IVF but I told her we were planning a cycle for Janary and she said she thought the pill could be more appropriate in my case. Stupidly, I did not ask her why as I was focussed on not forgetting to ask the questions I had gone to di...

Abnormal fertilisation and 6 cell on day 2?

We've just done our 4th cycle. Our first three cycles were fresh ICSI cycles and the one we have just done was with frozen eggs. We had 5 eggs frozen, 3 of which survived the thaw. Of those 3, two of them fertilised abnormally and the third one was 6 cell on day 2. Firstly, I am wondering what it means that two of the eggs fertilised abnormally and what could have caused it. I have heard of eggs being penetrated by more than one sperm but that can't have happened here because ICSI was used. Seco...

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

So...3 out of the 5 eggs survived the thaw, all three fertilised but two abnormally so there was just one to transfer. It is a 6 cell grade 2/3 with 1 being the highest and 3 being the lowest quality so not holding out much hope They found a polyp on my cervix while they were doing the transfer as well so that is going to have to be dealt with too.

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

5 eggs were defrosted and the clinic called today asking me to go in for transfer Tomorrow but woud not give any information about how many eggs survived the thaw or how many fertilised. I'm guessing that there are no more than two embryos because if there were more they would have gone for a day 3 transfer to see which were the strongest. Just hoping I will be able to have 2 embryos transferred.

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

Just to update the the thread in case anyone was wondering the same thing. I did not down reg, I started the oestrogen on day 2 of my cycle, had blood tests and scans on days 10 and 14 and they defrosted the eggs on day 15 (today.) If any of the eggs fertilise, the embryos will be transferred on either day 2 or 3 depending on how many make it. I guess that if just one or 2 fertilise t will be a day 2 transfer.

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

On the cycles I did not DR (short protocol) I took a half dose of the DR medicine for three days before my drug free day, then egg collection. When I did DR, I had injection for 3 weeks before starting stimms, then continued with a half dose.

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

Thanks for the reply! So you HAVE to DR? I did 3 fresh cycles and only DR for the first of them. They told me to start estrogen on day 2. Is estrogen given during DR? So annoyed this wasn't explained to me!

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

If you do a medicated cycle do you have to down reg? It has not been explained to me by my doctor. I have been told to call on day 1 of my period (which is today) and tomorrow I have to start with some Patches. I think they are estrogen Patches. Then on day 10 of my cycle I have to go for a blood test and scan. I am wondering if I am down regging and if that was a mistake. This doctor already ignored the fact that I have PCOS when making a decision about my previous cycle. She also looked not to...

Info about intralipids/steroids/clotting etc, following immunology test results

I had no side effects from the steroids, although since Maria mentioned it, I did have weird sleep the last time, feeling kind of tired but hyper at the same time. Those accounts you have read, were they about people taking steroids as part of fertility treatment? I have never heard of the side effects you are worried about. For fertility treatment the dose is very low and you're only taking them for a short time.

Hashimotos and fertility drugs

Thanks for your reply. My daughter is 15 months old and my thyroid levels have been really unstable since I had her after being fine throughout the pregnancy. Was your son conceived from the same "batch" of eggs as your daughter? Did that cycle go differently to your previous ones? I have 5 frozen eggs (not embryos) from the cycle that just failed and we are just waiting to hear whether we are allowed to do another fresh cycle instead of using the frozen eggs. The two embryos we had transfered t...

Hashimotos and fertility drugs

I have Hashimotos and have just done my third IVF cycle (have one child from the second attempt.) For the last few days I have been experiencing the symptoms I had before I started taking throid meds. I was wondering whether or what effect the IVF meds have on my thyroid condition. I took Gonal F, Gonasi, then progesterone. I also took Deltacortene (steroid) from the 5th day of stimming and the symptoms started after I stopped taking that when I got my negative pregnancy test result. I don't kno...

Immunology Level 1 UK. How did your gp go about these?

Just to comment about the thyroid - do you know what your TSH level is? 5.5 is still considered normal in many places but this guideline is outdated. Other places will accept anything up to 3.5 as OK but the reality is that the level should really be less than 2 to achieve and maintain a healthy pregnancy.

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

We have frozen eggs, not embryos but I was imagining that the process would be the same for me, it is just that they have to thaw the eggs then fertilise them before transfer. We have 5 eggs. The consultant said that they expect to lose 15-20% of the eggs in the thawing process so he said he would expect us to have at least 3 eggs to work with. My eggs have not been good quality on all 3 fresh cycles we did though so I am nervous about only having three eggs to fertilise. When we had 10 eggs to ...

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

Thanks for the replies! Oh wow, I was hoping it was going to be a shorter process, not longer I didn't DR on my fresh cycle, I did short protocol so it was 2 weeks from start to finish. I think you have to wait 2 months for a fresh cycle too so I am not really gaining anything by doing the frozen cycle. Do you have to keep going in to have the uterine lining measured? If I'm going to have to take a lot of hormones again I feel as if it would be better to do another fresh cycle as there would hop...

How soon did you do FET after fresh IVF cycle and how does it work?

We've just done a fresh IVF/ ICSI cycle which failed. We have some eggs that were frozen from that cycle and I am wondering how long other people waited after a fresh IVF cycle before doing the FET. Also, how does it work? I have PCOS and irregular cycles so I assume I would be doing a medicated cycle. Which drugs do you take and what are the timings? And... if you did a fresh IVF cycle after a failed FET, how long did you have to wait for that?

Has anyone done IVF/ ICSI with frozen eggs? (NOT embryos)

I'm in the 2ww of a fresh cycle. Got 10 mature eggs, 5 were injected (ICSI) and the other 5 were frozen. I was unhappy about the decision to freeze some of the eggs but I didn't have a say in it. Anyway, just 3 of the 5 eggs fertilised, one arrested and the other two were transferred but were both between 2nd and 3rd grade (1st being the highest quality, 3rd being the lowest) so we are not holding out much hope for this cycle. Has anyone had any success with frozen eggs? We have been told that t...
