Just got an approval for our Fostering application.....waited nearly 2 years from initial enquiries!!

Hi all, All my panic buying was most definitely unnecessary. We will be 8 wks post panel approval tomorrow & still waiting for a placement. Only actually met our link social worker last Monday.....she had been off sick with broken ankle and her boss had come out to see us to do our set up meeting 2 wks prior and told me when our names would go live as available. Our link worker has confirmed our approval is for children age 5 - 7 explaining that foster children have to be 3 yrs younger than my b...

Adopting a stepchild

Hi Gemma thanks for popping by, My Ds would love his name to be changed to our's in fact he goes into last year of junior school this Sep and has said he would like to keep name as it is till he starts new school next year. He also doesn't want to upset his bio Dad. So it is difficult. I also believe that my DS would choose to stay with my hubby if he had the choice.....hopefully he will never be put in that position but just in case. My DS is s o so close to my hubby and has been since the age ...

Just got an approval for our Fostering application.....waited nearly 2 years from initial enquiries!!

Hi Krissy, I am beginning to learn that I will have to find things out for myself like you have had to do. It was our Assessing Sw who told us not actually anyone from Birmingham Fostering. She seemed to know what she was talking about and I believed her. I was surprised with how many mistakes there was in our form F as its called a multitude of errors. Shopping went well we decided to buy DS a loft type bed for his room so he has desk & chair underneath plus chair/bed for his mates who currentl...

Just got an approval for our Fostering application.....waited nearly 2 years from initial enquiries!!

Hi Krissy, YOur old SW sounded awful, I'm guessing it was the quickest way to gain all the experience you now off though. I'm so glad your new SW is giving you so much more support now. I have been told if we are lucky enough to have a baby of our own I would have to take a break for 1 year! I asked if we could let a child stay if already in placement with us, because it would be awful if they needed to go to a new family unless it was going to be a permanent family, and I was told only under ce...

Adopting a stepchild

Can anyone guide me on having my husband gain parental responsibility/Adopt of my son born May 2002? My sons Bio Father does have name on DS birth cert but we was never married ( together 14 years lived together 9 years) we separated in 2005 when Ds was still 2 years old. My now husband got together in 2006 and have lived together with my Ds since 2007. My DS does have contact with his bio Father but this is not a court arrangement and tbh only happens when it suits my ex, he is always letting m...

Just got an approval for our Fostering application.....waited nearly 2 years from initial enquiries!!

Hi Here's Hoping, First of all let me just say.......WOW! I have just read your post about your overwhelming urge to host surrogacy. You sound like an amazing kind of girl! Even after your 7 yrs trying for baby 4 and having to go through IVF yourself you would still consider this. Donating eggs and Foster Caring too. Thank you so much of sharing with me your experience as Foster Carer, it is very helpful to me. Birmingham City council authority is who we are approved with, still not had any cont...

Hi here's hoping ( sorry....I don't know your name ) Thank you for sharing with us. Wow! I dread to ask what authority your fostering for In case it's same as ours lol. I can't believe they didn't know you was already caring for a baby when asking to bring a second baby. My Aunt fostered for many many years and she has said how much they will try and make you do. We have currently been approved only to take 1 child at a time aged between 5 & 8 yrs. do you think we may hear quite soon or could be...

Centre for Reproductive Medicine, Coventry

Hi, I had a look today and the clinic that was highly recommended to me is called Midland Fertility Services in Aldridge. If we decided to do our 3rd cycle I would like to use this clinic. Only problem is it is a little more expensive. Like I already mentioned if only I had been using Fertily Zone so much sooner, we didn't know about this clinic during the tx we went through. If you can take your time and gather as much valuable information fom as many different members & users as you can, this ...

Just got an approval for our Fostering application.....waited nearly 2 years from initial enquiries!!

Hi all Would love to hear from any one who has been in this position, we got the approval at Panel Tue 21st August & we are now wondering when we should hear from our Supervising Social Worker & how long likely before we are called about a child who needs to stay with us. We are approved to take 1 child aged 5 - 8 with potential ( if I give up my employment) 2 children aged 0-8. Panel did explain that although we are approved it has to be officially written up with head office and this could tak...

Hi Deepa & welcome to Fertility Zone, I'm sorry I have taken ages to reply I have been very busy. I had only 2 full cycles of ICSI IVF both in the CRM like you Solihull pct, both cycles 2 embryos were transferred back but both cycles never made it.. they funded our first cycle and also gave us a list of 3 clinics to choose from, we chose CRM Coventry as it was not as expensive as the other 2 clinics. (we funded ourselves for 2nd cycle) There are clinics with much better success rates but the tra...

Filling in our section of medical reports - how much should I include?

Hi Lynsey, Thank you too for leaving a message. As mentioned to Sharon I did explain everything. It was easier than I thought, as I had already explained the difficult time with abbusive X while my son was a new baby and then suffering the M/m/carriage te following year. Although my relationship was terrible this was hard for me to deal with as I had problems ttc with my X also. I had became pregnant with my son after 5 yrs of ttc. My X refused to be tested Vernever found out the cause. I though...

Filling in our section of medical reports - how much should I include?

Hi Sharon, Thank you so much for popping in and leaving me advise, this is very helpful. I did tell our assessing social worker everything at the very next meeting and she was lovely about it. As the depression had been a result of difficult life experiences she said it wouldn't have a negative affect on our application. I am sorry to hear the difficulties your suffering ttc, we know very well how difficult this is as my hubby & myself tried and tried for a baby for over 6 years now. This would ...
